The outfield for the SC Panthers really seem to be holding it down this tournament with the bats.

The Carolina Angels advance to the championship round with a win over the BigStix Gamers 5-1. We finished pool play at 2-1. Details later!

In addition to a great win I got to meet BRAVES son who came by to watch the game. Good job Braves! He seems to be a fine young man. I tried to give him a jersey!

They played this team down in Charleston. This was not the same team they faced down there. But I gotta say, many of these teams have been in Atlanta for 3 weeks. So, it's just my guess, this team lost to attrition of players and pitchers. It happens!

I recall one year we beat this proud and talented Florida team 18-0 in this same tournament. We got up on them early and they just quit (mentally and physically); knowing they were having to go home...and they had 6 players off that team that recently were drafted.

Knowing how important this tournament is, I wouldn't draw any conclusions about the overall competition based on the performance of this one team for one game.

    Lights out

If the only information you knew about this game was the box score, I can see where you might come to that conclusion. The facts were that Mat Batts pitched a great game, the defense played well behind him and the SCP bats were lively. Each time that HPCD started a rally, SCP would come up with a double play or pick off to shut them down. In all, no reflection of the competition; SCP played one of their best games and HPCD did not.
