Three different Canes North pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout yesterday morning against the St. Louis Pirates at Alpharetta HS.

RHP Daniel Gossett (2011, James F. Byrnes HS, SC), LHP Kyle Martin (2011, Wade Hampton HS, SC), and RHP Jordan Ramsey (2011, North Davidson HS, NC) totaled five scoreless innings and seven strikeouts.


At the plate, EH Tyler Crocker (2011, Dorman HS, SC) went 2-for-2 with two singles and 3 RBI.

 

Dirtbags 16 beat the Jacksonville Heat 6-2. Gunner Hogan had two hits and two rbi's. Mikal Hill had 1 hit and a rbi, Seth Constable had two hits and two stolen bases and Damon Hoggard had a big two out 2 rbi single in the 7th inning to give the dirtbags a three run cushion going into the bottom of the 7th. Dirtbags lead their pool going into tomorrow's game against the Mizuna Braves out of Indiana.

Panthers complete pool play 4-1. Carolina Cyclones win the pool with a 4-0-1 record and the Panthers wait on completion of play Saturday for a chance to advance as a wild card.

 

Dirtbags 16u advance to the championship round beginning tomorrow with a 11-2 win over the Mizuna Braves. George Carter had two hits, 4 rbi's a single and a 3 run double, Mikal Hill had two hits, single and rbi double and three stolen bases and Connor Andrus had a two run homer. Jordan Farthen was the winning pitcher.

 

D rats drop decisive game

The CBC Diamond Rats battled all the way back from an opening game loss to compete for a chance to play in the championship round, but the undefeated Palm Beach PAL team put a stop to their run. Solid pitching dominated the first four innings as both teams put lefties on the mound with similar results. William Frazier (Charlotte Country Day) struck out four batters in the first two innings and allowed only two infield singles through four. The PAL pitcher scattered three hits, but didn't give up much solid contact. The difference maker was a 2-run HR by the PAL catcher in the 5th inning, as the Rats were shutout when two bases-loaded rallies were snuffed out. Frazier opened the 7th and recorded an out, but a walk and hit batsmen put and end to his day. The Pal catcher (switch-hitter) picked up two more RBI's in the seventh as he doubled home the runners inherited by the CBC reliever. Lucas LaSalle (Alexander Central) and Bret Cash (Wren HS, Anderson SC) recorded four of the Rats' 5 hits.
