    Congrats to Petey...

McDowell Titans star center Petey Hausley has been named to the McDonald’s All American High School Boys Basketball Team, becoming the first Titans player to earn that distinction in more than a decade.

Surrounded by his teammates, Hausley, a 6-6 senior who has signed to play college basketball at Appalachian State University, received his award certificate from local McDonald’s owner/operator Robert Kelley Thursday after practice.

Hausley is the first McDowell player to make the team since Jenis Grindstaff and Orlando Melendez were named McDonald’s All Americans in the 1996-97 season. He is one of 1,500 nominees nationwide who will compete to fill one of 24 positions in the McDonald’s All American game March 26.

A three-year varsity starter, Hausley was voted the Northwestern 4A Conference’s Player of The Year last year after averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds and leading the Titans to the conference’s regular season and tournament championships, a state sectional championship and a runner-up finish in the West Regionals. Hausley was named to the Freedom Christmas Tournament team, the NW4A conference tournament team and the all-regional team as a junior. He was also named to the NCPreps.com 4A All-State team.

This season, Hausley is an integral part of a 19-3 Titans team that can clinch at least a share of its second straight conference championship with victories against Freedom Tuesday and A.C. Reynolds Friday. Hausley is averaging 20 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest, and leads the team with 11 double-doubles. He has season highs of 38 points in a win over Butler and 18 rebounds in a victory over T.C. Roberson. He was the MVP of the Freedom Christmas Tournament, which the Titans won.

As a sophomore, Hausley averaged 10.7 points and 8.2 rebounds.

Hausley has scored 1,227 points and pulled more than 700 rebounds in his three-year varsity career.

I know this season has been frustrating for you Petey but your selection is well deserved. If all the holding fouls were called you'd probably set the record for free throw attempts. :hurray:
