    Owls get even with Stingers

    The Statesville Owls split Friday’s doubleheader with the Carolina Stingers of Fort Mill, S.C., winning the second game 4-0.
    Brock Hudgens (UNC Charlotte) pitched sensational. He went the distance, striking out 10 and allowing only two hits in seven innings of work.
    Matt Gaine (Herkimer C.C.), Kenny Jackson (Hofstra), Nic Wilson (Hofstra) and Lucas Weber (USC-Upstate) drove in one run apiece.
    The Owls (6-8), who lost the first game 5-3, took the lead in the second inning. They added three insurance runs in the third.
    Stingers pitcher Michael LaLonde suffered the loss. He allowed four runs on five hits and three walks in three innings of work.
    The Owls host a doubleheader (5:00 and 7:30) today against the Pineville Pioneers gates open at 4:00.
