Coach Billy Godwin and staff are starting to reap the benifits of hard work and good recruiting. ECU has become a school of choice for top baseball talent. The program which is one of the best in the state is improving it's status to becoming one of the best in the nation. The 09 class was loaded with top talent and not missing a beat the 10's are just as strong with Reynolds, McDonald, Blake, Reinheimer, Chrisom and Lovick just to name a few.

It’s a comparison few would make. But in a way, college baseball mimics the stock market.
As with the stock market, there are some programs out there like Texas, Cal State Fullerton, LSU, Florida State and North Carolina that are constants. There also are programs such as Baylor, Nebraska, California, Arizona and Tulane that can’t seem to find their places in college baseball’s stock market.
Then there are programs such as Texas Christian, Virginia, East Carolina, Kansas and Ohio State that may remind some of the rising tech stars of the late 1990s.
TCU reached a super regional last season and has a chance to be even better in 2010, Virginia will be a national title contender in the spring, East Carolina has a golden opportunity to be the best team in the state of North Carolina for once, Kansas could make a huge statement in the Big 12 and Ohio State has the personnel to return to Omaha for the first time since ’67.

    [IMG] East Carolina
Analysis. There’s a strong feeling around the country and in the state of North Carolina that East Carolina is about to become a top-tier program. The Pirates have experienced some success the past few seasons, but took their biggest step forward last season by winning the Conference USA regular season crown and hosting an NCAA regional. The Pirates will have another solid team in ’10. They also have the ability to be the top team in North Carolina for the first time in a long time.

I really like what's going on in Greenville with ECU. They have had some good recruiting classes, but recruits are "potentials". We'll have to see how they work out.

Here are the Top 25 schools with their recruiting classes by BA---certainly some surprises:

    1. Florida

    2. Stanford

    3. Arizona State

    4. Texas Christian

    5. Cal State Fullerton

    6. Texas

    7. North Carolina

    8. Mississippi State

    9. Virginia

    10. Central Florida

    11. North Carolina State

    12. Mississippi

    13. Vanderbilt

    14. Tennessee

    15. Kentucky

    16. Oklahoma

    17. Miami

    18. Michigan

    19. UCLA

    20. Clemson

    21. Rice

    22. Oregon State

    23. Missouri

    24. Oregon

    25. Louisville

I love this discussion on BaseballAmerica:

Ryan (Greenville, NC): C'mon Aaron. NC State has a better recruiting class than ECU? I don't see how you can convince me of that. And not just better...you have them listed in the top 15, while ECU not even in the top 25. Please explain.

Aaron Fitt-BaseballAmerica: Well, I don't know that any Pirates fan will ever be convinced that NC State has a better anything than ECU — that's the nature of rivalries, I suppose. I do think ECU has a good class — I particularly like Tyler Joyner, John Wooten and Chris Gosik. I think that's probably a top 30 class, which is nothing to scoff at. But NC State's class really has a chance to be special. Felix Roque, Rey Cotilla and Dane Williams (though he had Tommy John surgery) have huge arms; Danny Canela is a great player, Tarran Senay has huge raw power, and the class has solid depth. The Wolfpack did very well this year.

NC state seems to be getting a Good class, there last two have been real good, hopefully they have a better year than last. Avent and Holiday are getting it done. I figured South Carolina , ECU and LSU would be at the top of the list. I guess the draft may have hurt some

again, just another example of ecu being ecu. it'll be ok bons, deez, and e. :grouphug:

but in all seriousness... it's good to see the Wolfpack up there in the recruiting ranks. the program needs a jumpstart really and hopefully a top notch class will get them going. how many of these guys in this class are expected to contribute as FR?
