    oh, you're talking about a lined box for the photo people...........usually we just throw them out of the dug out......

    Oh, yeah. I understand now.

    Technically, you would think that would be dead ball territory if lined off like that. This comes under the category of "ground rules" and handling should be covered at the plate conference right before the game.

    Basically, the lines are meaning two different things. During the regular season the umpires were calling it a boundry marker with dead ball territory behind it. The tournament umpires were ignoring the lines and telling the photographers not to wander all over the field and stay inside them.

    You know, we had those boxes drawn during a couple of home games this year and wondered why; never saw a photographer actually get in one of them.
