How many DVD's Tapes Internet articles etc etc have you watched read or purchased on pitching? How many of these people could you actually ask a question of face to face? How many times have you had someone that you really didnt know or have any idea what their baseball background was give you advice on pitching?

There is a thread right now on this site about a pitchers strength and conditioning clinic. It is going to be held on Dec 15th. It is going to be taught by current college coaches. You will recieve a manual that you can take with you to refer back to over and over again. You will actually be able to ask questions.

If I were a pitcher , or wanted to be a pitcher , if I were the parent of a pitcher or a parent of a kid that wanted to pitch I would not miss this. Our pitching coach is going. I plan on going. This sounds like a great opportunity to learn. And that is very important. Because there is a ton bad information out there folks. Why take chances that you dont have to?

This reminds me of a story. This father bought a Nolan Ryan tape on pitching. He had his son go through the drills that were taught on the tape. He asked me to come by one day and watch his son pitch...so I did.

When I arrived I saw this kid on the mound that was doing something weird. He would wind up then stop...and gather his body up to look like a stork in heat. Both arms would be away from his body and his front foot would be pointing in the air and he would "Freeze", he would stay like that for about 5 seconds, before throwing it to the catcher.

After spitting out a mouthful of seeds and having a coke splurt out of my nose from laughing so hard, I asked him, "What was that?". He said, it was a drill he learned from watching the Nolan Ryan tape. After catching my breathe from laughing so hard, I said, "Look, it was a drill. It was to help him with his balance. But it was not something they wanted him to do while he was pitching". The father said, "Oh".

I felt so sorry for the kid. I know he was embarrassed by imitating a wounded stork during a baseball game, but he did what his father told him.

and that's my point. Sometimes a little information is worse than no information. Learn from a professional. The guys at this clinic know what they are talking about. They will be discussing topics that go so far past the normal discussions of pitching.

I wish my son had attended this 4-5 years ago. He wouldn't have had to go through trials and tribulations that he has.
