Fish, I promise you the better pitchers work more than a 30 minute pitching lesson.More like a hour pitching lesson.150-250 pitches 3 days a week.At most 2 weeks off a year.Renting pitching time at an indoor facility 3 days a week in the winter.Sitting and watching TV while spinning a "cannonball" to improve her spins.Core strengthening, endurance training so she can pitch 3-4 games a weekend.Under a microscope on every pitch once you get to the showcase phase of your career.Trying to impress these coaches so your dream of playing college ball can come true.Learning to control your emotions so no weakness shows.Pitching......piece of cake!

...cool, so we disagree about following the same regimine. I can't answer back to you pal about the next part of your post because I don't follow what you're getting at bro. I do follow that in your example pitchers put in 4 hours a week give or take. Well try on for size a kid who hits everyday, just 30 minutes, so that adds up to 3.5 hours. We're talking nickles in differences here.
Hitters have caught up to pitching in a big way. Why else would bats be subjected to less pop?
Last, I'm just throwing out my opinion and if you or others agree fine if not, fine, but you can bet either way, I'll still post what I believe to be true. I've got no dawg in the hunt, lol....now cmon bro, thats funny.

....no doubt pitchers work hard, and I'm not posting in a negative way at all towards pitchers, I just posted that I think that some, not all, hitters work on their game with the same desire, time and effort.
Like squeezing a hand hick a ma jig to make your hands stronger, like rolling a weight on a rope up one way and then the other while having your hands stright out, all in an effort to make you stronger, like hitting soft toss, or butterbeans, or ....wait for it.... like learning to control your emotions, as you say, and then apply them to outsmart the dad on the bucket calling pitches, ha, now thats one that goes on and some folks are so focused on strikeouts that they lose sight of the fact that they, the pitcher is being set up.
And what makes you think that a batter is not under a microscope on every pitch when in the showcase stage. I'll go one better and say its harder on the batter because when they're "the out to get" they don't see many good pitches and also only get 3 at bats in a game if that many.
    Wow, that was easy.

This is good stuff. My dd is a Pitcher and she is always and I mean always wanting to be the threat at the plate. She also get a big charge out of facing a big time hitter and trying to send her back to the bench or keep her to a single. With pitching practice eating up most of her available time it doesn't leave alot of time for her to work on her hitting skills away from HS practice. I agree with the fishman, hitter are catching up with the pitchers

Fish let me clear it up bro
I truly do not know or even remember hearing of any hitter that follows a regiment like that All winter. If there are some, I am sure that they are great hitters. No matter what position you play the more time and work you put in the more you get out.
So you see we do agree my man
and yes the dawg in the hunt was funny.
I am glad there are hitters working that hard I just dont know or have heard of any until you enlightened me.
It is my understanding that the bats being subject to less pop was to save a kid from serious injury not take away a hitting advantage. I my assumption on that is wrong then I stand corrected.
    Thanks
    Ray

I doubt they get all the accolades. Many players on here are not pitchers and receive much love. But the reality is the money goes to the pitchers. The majority of scholarship money is reserved for them? Why? Because the successful one's have a god given ability that puts them in the minority. Everybody wants them and there are not enough of them.

    DawgPal and Bugbuddy.....

....and for all others, let me say that the enthusiasm, and genuine interest about stuff like this is what perpetuates fastpitch.
Without folks like the two above, and others, we'd have a tougher row to hoe.
    Thanks,

    Fishbrother

...you're right. Just like QBS are the darlings of football teams.
A post above mentioned that pitchers have a stat that calls out the winning and losing pitcher, well, I'm pretty sure that a good analogy to that gig is when the Panthers lose, all hell would break out about how bad Jake played, not how the left guard left his QB out to dry by missing a block. (jake still was bad) ooops, had to get that blast in.
Pitchers know whats up and they know how important their teammates are, just like a QB who knows that without all the weightroom work his Oline does will get his neck broke.
    Alls good folks.
Stats are for evaluating by a coach; are for bragging or better yet to be proud of by the parents; and unless you're signing a new contract, no one else really cares.
Props to all of our kids.

Fishman........Go Pack and the Yankees will rule again!
