Pitching to lefty slappers

do pitchers try to make it tougher for slappers w/ certain pitch location, junk pitches? seems an outside corner low pitch would be hard to slap.
maybe a screw ball.

U are correct with the pitch location U mentioned as it is where many go to get the slappers out. Some try inside and up as high as umpire allows. Good slappers with speed want to put the ball to the left side of infield and beat the throw and most run a sub 2.8 home to first so if they get it down or get any hop on ball they will be safe. Defending the slap is an interesting concept, what do most coaches do to stop this weapon beyond pitch location?

 

its always good to know the slappers' background(orginally a RH hitter who has learn to hit from the left side, how long she's slapped, is she exclusively LH hitter now.....etc). up and in or down and in, as You dont want to let her get her arms extended for those outside pitches works well.

 

I always subscribe to putting a high hard one squarely between her eyes. Trust me, this slappy epidemic must be stopped!

 

doesnt work; the helmets now have face guards and you just put her on base.

 

do it enough times and they will get jumpy.

 

The men I used to play with would actually do this, but as CF says, you just put them on base, plus it's not very sportsmanlike. Try the old-fashioned change up! You can't let 'em know it coming, though.

 

she can't help it if her slapper hangs to the left. I can't imagine how that works, though.
