IMPACT will be doing their first update for POY on Monday and I thought it would be good for folks to give some pub to deserving Seniors. Have at it!

    Jordan Darnell

Jordan Darnell from Ardrey Kell (committed to Elon) has to be at the top of the list. Check out these numbers as a two-way player with most games played against SW4A teams in the toughest conference in the state:

    .421 AVG, 8 DBL's, 4 HR's, 17 RBI, 3 SB, 10BB, 21 R's, .181 Opp Batting Avg

    7-1, 1.50 ERA, 3 Saves, 51.33 IP, 51 K's

When you factor in that AK was in the basketball playoffs so he walked straight off the court and onto the diamond his numbers are amazing. Imagine if he had the month of practices all the other players had to shake off the rust. His only loss as a pitcher was a week after basketball ended when he took the hill against Butler in AK's first conference game of the season. Great leader as well.

    Ryan Arrowood

Ryan Arrowood at R-S Central (committed to App St) is having an outstanding season. As a two way player he is absolutely dominating!
He is hitting .469, with five homers, 28 RBIs and eight steals despite being pitched around at every opportunity. On the mound, Ryan is 7-0 with a 0.94 ERA and in 52 innings he has struck out 101 (you read right that's almost 2 an inning!) while allowing only 23 hits. Humble kid who will be a star at App!

    I have 3 favorites.

    Andrew Blackwell - Brevard High
    Hitting
    .408
    10 HR's
    37 RBI

Not sure about his pitching stats but I think they are pretty good.

Cody Geyer - North Buncombe High
    Hitting
    .552
    11 HR's
    38 RBI

Very good stats for Mr. Geyer in MAC conference. I have never seen him play but just look at his stats.

I have seen Ryan Arrowood hit and pitch both high school and Legion and he is awesome at both.

Eyewitness news at 6 tonight had a very nice segment on Kevin and his accomplishments this year. ECU and App St were mentioned as having an interest in him.

    My choice

I think the player of the year should have the following
    1. GPA
    2. Stats (Pitching, Hitting and Fielding)
    3. Coach should recommend. (only one per team)
    4. Should be a player from every school that wishes to recommend one (not just the big ones)
    5. A panel of 7 coaches from across the state and elected by their peers. Should review these players.

I really think that there are so many great players the only way to be fair is to put it in the hands of the coaches.
