Her eyes have been checked. They are 20/20. Her swing is fine. The confidence is not there. We work with her. She is trying so hard.

Another suggestion is to get her to just swing easy for a few practices. Swinging easy will still put the ball outfield so it won't be but so boring. Switching to a lighter bat may help. Hitting with a broom handle bat might help. Also, try hitting a bunch of self toss using regular balls, tennis balls, pinto beans, etc. Try those with various type bats.

Since nothing is working you can't go wrong by experimenting. What area do you live in? If you live in the Raleigh area, we can get her hitting again.

PS: Sometimes it doesn't hurt to switch instructors for a bit. Her instructor might suggest that. If done right it shouldn't be a big hit on the instructor's ego. After all, there is only so much an instructor can do. After that it's on the student. You can always switch back probably.

    Agreed

The key about hitting is this, that the bat comes through the zone correctly. I have heard so much lately that your kid ought to hit this way or that way. Change is not always good, but it may help. Just because she isn't hitting it out, might not be a mechanic problem it could be that she isn't eating her Wheaties--LOL. I know many kids with different swings, and you've got power hitters, and line drive hitters. Don't have them so confused that they tense up when they swing the bat. Strength training may be what little Susie needs. If it's a timing issue there are drills to fix that also. Ask yourself does little Susie see her dilemma as a possible fix or does she feel hopeless about her ability. If she is negative going to plate positive reinforcment is the only way to fix this......remember it may take time !!!

I know a young man who was suffering from the same thing. He also had 20/20 vision. The problem turned out to be too much time looking at a one demensional environment... the cumputer screen and cell phone for texting. Turned out he was losing his depth perception. Amazing huh?
