    I guess the goal is to get a bat that performs like wood, but doesn't break like wood.

    everybody wins

    Lets see

    1 -new bats perform like wood so wood bat proponents get what they want

    2 - coaches can still get a substantial amount of money from bat manufacturers while having less expense buying so many wood bats so they get what they want

    3 - manufacturers do not have to worry about being able to produce enough quality wood bats so they get what they want (in this time of being green how many forests would be needed to get the good wood to all the schools)

    and

    4 - players still get to play (never heard anyone complain about playing in wood bat venues) which is what they want
