Playing 8 Players, Any Rule About What Position Does Not Have to Be Covered?

You can play a game with only eight players. Is there any rule about what positions must be covered?

Obviously, there must be a pitcher. Is this the only position that must be filled? Not trying to do what makes sense here; just asking about the rules.

If a team decided to play without a catcher, would that be legal?

Another thread got me thinking (not a good idea to get me thinking)!

If the pitcher is the only one that is required (by rule or not) then the pitcher is the only player that can't be replaced.

Humor me, please. This is sort of tongue in cheek.

 

The rule is in ASA 6.5.A. The catcher has to be in the box.
