Tonight i went to Caldwell/cherryville game. The one major thing that everyone should know and american legion should look into. The umpires never called the game tonight they played threw a thunder storm. It was lightning and poring rain....but they kept on playing. Lightning was striking all around the field.....but the umpires never called it. What if one of the players got struck by lightning because the umpires didn't call it???

Think about it ?? What if it was your kid out on that field??? What would you do???

Without having seen today's Gaston Gazette (so I don't know the final score), I'll bet that Cherryville was ahead and they were trying to get enough innings to make the game "official".

If the weather was as dangerous as you say and the umpires did not suspend the game, then the Legion officials from both posts should have stepped in and protected the players. Yes, as a parent, I would have pulled my player and would have encouraged the other parents to do likewise. A player's welfare is in the hands of the coaches, umpires and other officials when they step on the field, but a parent takes precident over all others, when it comes to physical harm.
