LP-? (taking in the game from the grass bank in the outfield muffles the names a bit)

Another good outing by Benton who has only allowed 1ER in 14IP in the playoffs so far. Key hit of the game was a Glenn Jones 2RBI double in the 2nd. Tigers now travel to face Ledford on Tuesday.

    Ragsdale/NW Cabarrus

    Ragsdale 3
    NW Cabarrus 2
    WP- Kunta Hicks 11 strikeouts
    LP- Goodman

Another tight game for the Tigers. Not a complete game report here because I missed the first half. It was 1-0 Tigers when I got there in the 4th just in time to see Kunta Hicks launch one over the fence to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. In the 5th Hicks got into trouble and a missed double play ball helped NE load the bases with one out. They were able to push two runs across and the tie the score.

A little controversy as the Ragsdale coach made two trips to the mound and NW coach wanted Hicks pulled from the game. It took about 20 minutes and one ump running to the parking lot for his rule book before they decided Hicks could stay. I think I heard three trips were allowed but not sure if it had anything to do with the point in the game or not.

In the sixth Hicks got a 2 out double to give the Tigers life. Chad Baker hit a dribbler towards the mound, fielded by the pitcher but he fell and made a wild throw from his knees. I think Baker would have beat even a good throw but the wild throw allowed Hicks to score the go ahead run. Not sure if Baker got an RBI on the hit but if he did thats two game winning hits in two playoff games.

Hicks struck out the side in the 7th after taking one off the ankle to give put the tieing run on base. The Goodman kid pitched a good game for NW. Big loud crowd there tonight too.

    Go Tigers!
