Green Hope went with Judd instead of T. Kyhalid (Spelling?) Interesting but it payed off. I'll bet if Barham or Emmert pitched Kyhalid would have also pitched.

    5/20 4A 1st Round
North Forsyth 1, South Meck 0
    WP: Gib Hobson
    LP: Charles Vartanian

Great pitching by both Hobson and Vartanian tonight in North Forsyth. Game was scoreless until about the 4th inning. North Forsyth finally got a couple of hits back to back and managed to score 1 run. South Meck had runners left on 3rd one inning and 3rd and 2nd another inning. Congratulations to North Forsyth for holding on to their lead even though the home plate umpire had a bit of a hard time finding the strike zone for both teams tonight.

North Forsyth's new field renovations are looking very, very good with still many jobs at the field unfinished as yet. First game played tonight, I believe, since the new brick back stop and netting was put in.

The South Meck "buzzed head" baseball players will return...

    North Meck at McDowell.....

This game had everything in it. It was nerve-wracking to watch if you had a player in it. McDowell started Taylor, lhp, North started Pierce, rhp.

In the top of the 1st, North plated 5 runs, but McDowell answered with 4 of their own, including a lead-off home-run. North pushed over another in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd. It was beginning to look like a safe lead, but McDowell came storming back with another Homer with a man on in the 4th to cut the lead to 8-6. McDowell hit their 3rd homer in the 5th and it was an 8-7 ball game. In the top of the 7th, John Kellett hit his second homer of the game for North (he had one in the 1st) to give North a little breathing room. North got their running game going early, which seemed to cause problems for McDowell.

Taylor went 4 innings for McDowell, allowing 8 runs.
The Centerfielder (I didn't catch his name, really good looking righty) came in to pitch the 5-7th, allowing 1 run.

Pierce lasted 3 innings, he left in the 4th with 1 on, no out, allowing 5 runs.
Rosenbaum pitched 2 1/3 inning, coming out in the bottom of the 6th with 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd.
Porter pitched 1 2/3, stranding both inherited runners and retiring the side in order in the 7th.

Totals: 5 pitchers, 5 homers, 16 runs ..... The game had everything.

McDowell is a great hitting team. The hit every ball right on the button and drove it. It was a tough loss for them.

Big props to East Forsyth!! They not only won against Lee Land but did so from behind after a more than shaky 1st inning. Land used his curve effectively and that served as his out pitch. Neither pitcher got great support from their defense but East fought back and made the plays they had to in the last couple of innings to hold on. The game ended on a Riverside suicide squeeze bunt attempt which was popped up and the runner from 3B was doubled up for the third out. Land looked good but after Basham got past the 1st inning, Basham won the pitcher's duel that most people including NCBballFan were predicting.

As NC-Dad said, Basham hit 91mph which was confirmed by Spencer Graham, KC Royals Area. He showed a lot of poise, and whatever else you want to call it, bouncing back from a 35-pitch 1st inning to go into the 7th inning with a little gas left to spare, albeit very little.

Yes. NWC has already used their "ACE" in Lucas Dalton.
They have 2 or 3 other pitchers that are good also, but !!!!

Ragsdale has more talent per position than NWC has .
I look for Ragsdale to win by 3 or 4 runs . NWC has been flat of late, if they are on, this game could get interesting.
