McDowell couldnt hit their way out of a paper bag!!Our kids held them to 6 runs in 3 games! 2 or 3 of those runs scored on errors!!I am glad they got beat!!

Hey Wossa, first of all let me say congratulations to a fine Ragsdale team. This was a very intense game and you could smell the "playoff atmosphere" everywhere. Two fine pitchers (Baker & Sherrill) both pitched fantastic. Its just a game of breaks and you guys got the big triple with 2 runners on immediately after the inning when we left 2 runners stranded. Thats the way it goes. Congratulations.

As for Ragsdale/NW Cabarrus matchup,,, I rate it as a tossup. I agree with Intimidator Coach that the Northwest bats have been flat as of late, but much of that is they've had a hard time trying to figure out G.Sherrill (who you faced last night). Otherwise, Northwest has a senior-led team that will come up there fighting. I expect a close game (much like ours) that could be decided in the late innings once again.

Good luck to both teams, but you gotta understand that I'll be rooting for the local boys...

Green Hope - Garner will be a great game.

It should be Kaylid vs. Stanley.

I think Green Hope will find a way to win this one late... GH 5, Garner 2.

Green Hope is tough to beat on their home field, especially on a Friday night in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Ask Fuquay, Lee County, etc. I don't think they've been beat at home yet.

I'll be at the game. Since Orange HS won, I don't think our legion game vs. Orange on Fri. night will take place. We have 11 without Green Hope, so we can still play... but I doubt Orange will have enough, if ANY, to play us since the HS team is still rollin'.

    Good Luck TRI-7!

    Orange - R.J. Reynolds

    Orange- 3
    R. J. Reynolds 2

The game between the Orange High School Panthers and the R.J. Reynolds Demons in the first round of the state playoffs is one of those games that could have gone either way. Reynolds who was never ranked in any polls faced a highly ranked Orange HS team, and proved once again that they could play with anyone, although ended up on the "short end of the stick" last night. Reynolds had great pitching, and flawless defense, and their two hits were doubles that came from seniors, Brad Thomerson and Jordan Wesley. The Panthers of Orange HS only had 4 hits during the game. The Demons surprised a lot of people this year (except themselves and their coaches) - they won the Winston - Salem/Forsyth County Tournament, were co- champions of the Central Piedmont 4-A Conference, and ended up with an impressive overall record of 18-7(including last night's game). Their starting lineup consisted of 4 seniors and 5 underclassmen (4 of those being sophomores), but each player on the team, starter or non- starter had a definite impact in the Demons' success this year: total teamwork, respect for one another and their coaches, great team chemistry, along with a "never give up" attitude made for a winning combination for the 2003 Demons' baseball. R. J. Reynolds.... just a basketball school, I think not!

Hey ragsdale, we will be back next year, yall got lucky this year, a few breaks that we have been lacking all year has been wat has kept us back, and there was a few calls that coulda easily went our way(kannapolis) and that would of changed the whole complection of the game. Not taking nothing away from yall, cuz yall are a great team, i just dont think if yall make it deep that yall could match up against west rowan. Just wait and ull see, kannapolis should be one of the favored next year, not only in the npc, but all around the state. Ktown is coming back with 6 starters and i heard that there are a couple from other schools that could help us out that would be transfering here next year. This year ktown started 4 sophmores and 2 juniors. And all 3 of AL browns main pitchers are coming back (2 juniors and 1 soph) should be strong next year in the bats again as well. But its gonna be tough running into west rowan twice during the year, they should be a power house next year as well, but i think we will be able to give them a pretty good game in the times we play them. this year wegave them 2 pretty good games. But goodluck ragsdale in the game friday. I hate to tell u, but im pulling for NWC on this one, after all they are in a our conf and id rather someone from our conf to keep on advancing, peace out

Ajax, you know in our conference, we battle all year and then pull for each other in the playoffs. It was the same when we were in the MAC 3A. I know at our game last night everyone all night long was wondering how Owen and North Henderson were doing and hoping they won. Owen did and North didn't. But come Friday night we will be pulling for Owen again. My guess is Owen will be pulling for us too just to get another shot at us. It's called "friendly rivalries". Something your conference need a good dose of.

    1st Round Results

The first round is over. A few upsets in my opinion...

All scores/results for the first round have been posted on www.IMPACTBASEBALL.com on the top of the main page.

Note of interest: How about Garner scoring some runs! It does not look good for opponents if these guys score 8 runs in a game with Hempy and Stanley...

Another Note: Impact Baseball's Eric Leary posted his first game coverage story on ImpactBaseball.com today.

I'm enjoying the coverage here at TBR! Keep up the great work!
