Kerr Vance Academy defeats the # 2 seed Waccamaw Academy 7-0.....John Allen faces the minimum 21 batters and comes within one batter of a perfect game as he outdeuls Kyle Hufham.

John gave up a one out double and the runner was nailed trying to stretch it to a triple.

Kerr then loses first game of 3 game series in State Final to defending champs Lawrence Academy 7-3. Series resumes tomorrow at 11 am at Fleming Stadium in Wilson.

    WOW!!!!!

Hey there guys. Putt great to see you. Woosa sorry I missed you. It was a great night. They were really supporting their teammate tonight. I what to say thanks to the Ragsdale fan that was on the outside of the fence that retrived to ball. I ran to retrive it for Tanner. The guys said it went further than the other on hit before. Guess they had an ANGEL with them to night. Ragsdale was a class act tonight.

We also wondered that. Would have thought that Mcbride would have been the next call. Coffey was doing well and the change I thought would be to save some innings for the second round. Then Hixson stuggled we thought for sure McBride would be in. Guess that is why we sit on the other side of the fence. Still a solid played game and well played by both teams.

Wow, what a crazy ending to the game tonight. East trailed by 2 runs heading into the bottom of the 7th ending. The first two runners reached via walks. The third and fourth batters of the inning Ben Decelle and Preston Troutman both struck out. Zach Smith came up with two on and two out and Piedmont semi-intentionally walked Smith to load the bases bringing up David Ijames who fell behind to an 0-2 count. Ijames fought back to a 2-2 count before knocking an opposite field hit to right field to bring in the tying runs. Smith who was on first had made it all the way to third came racing home while his teammates were celebrating. The Piedmont catcher and pitcher had not called time and Smith alertly came home to score the winning run for the Mustangs and the crowd went bonkers stunning the visitors.

Preston Troutman earned the win in relief. Corbin Shive started only gave up one earned run. The other three runs scored due to Mustang miscues in the field. East advances to play Parkland Tuesday at Staton Field.

Congrats to Piedmont on their fine season.

    Myers Park 3 McDowell 1

Myers Park got another stellar pitching performance from Robert Balsley to beat a good McDowell squad. Balsley went 6 innings on 3 days rest after shutting out Ardrey Kell on Monday;giving up 5 hits and walking none. Myers Park was led by Brian Holberton's 2 run HR and 2 hits by Brent George.

Myers Park will host SW4A for Tuesday night in a second round game.

Ragsdale had plenty of chances tonight. Had first and third with no outs in the second but a double play grounder got in a run but took them out of a big inning. Then got a two run lead in he third when Kyle Brandenburg got a two out double (a hit that tied the mark for career hits at Ragsdale) and scored on a Desean Anderson single but Anderson was left on second and it felt like Ragsdale should have had more. Then Parkland tagged Coffey for two solo homers in the fourth (Andre McKay and Tanner Beck) to tie it up and make it a game. Then the rains came.

Ragsdale looked to get momentum back in the fifth after Joe Bright reached on an error, stole second and made it to third on a bad pick off. Brandenburg was hit by a pitch but then got caught stealing for the second out and Ragsdale missed getting a run in. Ragsdale then had a chance to take the lead in the sixth but wasted a one out Ryan Andrejco double when he got caught in a run down after Rhodes fieled a come backer.

Ragsdale got out of a jam in the sixth when Hixson walked the first two batters but both got caught stealing on great throws by Walt Sparks. But then the wheels fell off in the seventh. Parkland batted around scoring four runs on two singles, four walks a hit batter and a wild pitch. Ragsdale got two men on in the seventh but couldn't get a run across.

It was Parkland's night and they deserve all the credit for a great all around win.
