I do think they were saving McBride but at the same time, I think Coffey is just as good. The problem is, they should have gone to McBride in relief it sounds like when the game was tight. I have no problem starting Coffey but once you have to make a switch it needed to be McBride in my opinion.

Also, if you do consider McBride the hands down ace, they nearly saved their ace for a matchup that wouldn't have happened anyways. They saved him for East Rowan and ER nearly got beat themselves. Can't be looking ahead this time of year.

Yes it was an excellent game... for those who didn't come to G-ville you missed a game where both teams played with a lot of heart.

Rose manufactured their first run when Grayson Parrott reached on a 2 base error, was bunted to 3B by Tanner Merritt and then Patrick Roy grounded out to drive him in.

In the Person 4th Marc Davis (UNSIGNED SENIOR) launched a Merritt pitch (his only mistake of the night) over the scoreboard in left.

Rose would take the lead for good when Parrott doubled and was driven home on a single by Roy (this kid is a player).

    Pitching lines:

Rose: Tanner Merritt - WP- (CG, 1 run, 1 ER, 8 hits 10 K's 0 BB) It is easy to see why he signed with ECU
    Person: Dylan Dickens - CG 2 runs, 1 ER, 4 hits 3 K's 2 BB

    Leading Hitters:

Rose: Jason Sugg 2-2; Grayson Parrott 1-2, 2 runs; Patrick Roy 1-3, 2 RBI

Person: Marc Davis 2-3, HR, RBI; Christian Dickens 2-3, 2B; Stephen Wright 1-3, Trey Davis 1-3; Cody Ellis 1-3

I thought we battled hard tonight, and left everythig we had on the field. We left the bases loaded in the 6th with 1 out and a runner on 2B in the 7th. Just couldn't scratch across that key hit off Merritt who kept us off balance when he had to.

RV has a very good team at Rose, they can hit! We were fortunate that Dylan pitched so well against their heavy hitters.

Person ends its season at 14-10

I am so proud of what our team accomplished. The boys came out ready to play tonight and it wasn't meant to be I guess. We have some key losses that will be difficult to replace, but I look forward to a bright future!! This was the most fun bunch of guys I have coached in a long time!!

    Sanderson at Durham Jordan

What a pitching gem by Sr Charles Wolfe (unsigned) for Sanderson. CG with 2 hits, 2K and 2 HB. No earned runs and threw around 75 pitches. Was in a groove.

Sanderson scored two runs in the top of the first. Kyle Wigmore led off with a walk, moved over by Robert Brunson, Wolfe's single scored Wigmore, Max Gagnon's double moved Wolfe to third, and Wolfe scored on a wild pitch. No more scoring but Sanderson had its chances.

Jordan scored their only run in the third. Fr. Bullock reached on an error ansd scored on Hubbard's double.

Sanderson now host Fuquay-Varina who upset Smithfield Selma.

Sanderson batters -- Robert Brunson (1-3), Charles Wolfe (1-3, rbi, run), Max Gagnon (1-3, 2B), Sam Beavans (1-3), Travis Trumps (1-3) and Kyle Wigmore (0-3, W, run).

If not for Person's errors, our season would be over. Congrats to Coach Evans and his kids. They are a heck of a team. Their shortstop is a player.

McMichael defeats Northwood 9 to 7.

MHS hit the ball when they needed to against four different Northwood pitchers. This defines Northwood's season... just couldn't establish consistency on the mound. The Hughes kid was dominant early for MHS but seemed to tweak something and came out during the 4th. After that it was a fairly even matchup but the Phoenix were able to stay out in front of the Chargers to win the game.
