    Update

    Christian continues to improve. He is at Charlotte Rehab right now and is making remarkable progress.

    Highlights:

    He seems to have retained most of his cognitive functioning (understanding instructions, following directions, etc).

    He has no movement on his right side yet but is feeding himself, brushing his teeth and working hard on his skills of daily living from a wheelchair.

    He is eating anything he wants.

    He has started some verbal expression, though it's limited to a single word. A very enthusiastic, expressive "Amen" is the limit, along with a grin that is as wide as the sky.

    Some of the Panthers (yes .... those guys) came to see him and it was a real showstopper for him. He loved it.

    Thanks everyone ..... he may actually make it home by Labor Day with the rapid progress he is making.

    07/30 Update: Christian continues to confound and amaze everyone ...

    New word (out of the blue) today .... what do you want to eat?
    Everything .... Though right-handed, he has copied written stuff with his left hand and has started to move his right arm and leg. He wrote his birthday today so it looks like the only thing it will take is patience ........ and more prayers.

    obtw: When they asked him to write out his birthday, he spelled out "January", which is better than I can normally do.
