    Mooresville @ N. Stanly

    Mooresville 8
    N. Stanly 7 (7 innings)

Blue Devils pitched Skidmore, West, Tilley, Blocker, Rhyne. Typical scrimmage, both teams looked a little shaky to me.

West Henderson @ McDowell scrimmage saw West Henderson start 3 freshman and 2 sophmores. The 3 freshman, John Smith, Josh Moore, and Casey Allison went a comined 7/10 at the plate through the 1st 7 innings. Caleb Cuevas, a recent junior additon to the team also had a big night going 3/4 with 2 doubles and a home run. The score after 7 was McDowell 7, West Henderson 6 with both coaches using multiple pitchers and defensive combinations. West threw 7 different pitchers tonite in the 12 innings played.

Forbush is a very solid team. They are going to be difficult for anyone to handle in the 2A ranks. Owen and East Rutherford will have their hands full.

Should be a good scrimmage this Friday b/t Richmond Co., Greenville Rose and Southern Wayne at Southern Wayne. Anyone know anything about these teams?

    Fred T Foard 3 Hibriten 1

Neither team showed a lot of hitting. However, Foard's pitching was pretty dominant. Trent Rothlin (So.) pitched the first two innings, followed by Ben Lilly (Jr), Matt Lewis (So.), Aaron King (So.), Rusty Smith (Sr.), Chris Reynolds (So.) and Andrew Wyant (Fr.) They are young, but they have 3 lefties in the mix.

Independence 14 West Stanley 2Coming off the South Meck scrimmage Indy looked like they had something to prove. They came out and tallied up 7 runs in 3 innings including a 2 run homerun by RF Marc Nicholson and a 3 run homerun by 2B Aaron Bray. Defense, which seemed to hurt them last saturday against South, was very strong. Coach Coltrane must've worked them hard and got them focused. This team looks strong and has the talent and the potential to be as good if not better than last year, things just have to come together. Another guy that had a good game was LF Trey Starnes 4-4 with 2 triples. Indy looks like they have got their bats working right now. Their 4 pitchers looked good Robby Bray, Aaron Bray, Wes Elkins and John Danza. I dont think there is a better 4 hitters in the state than leadoff Daniel Cooke, 2 hole Aaron Bray, 3rd Evan Taylor, and clean up Marc Nicholson. You can even throw in Trey Starnes, Shayne Miller and Steven Miller in the bunch. This team looks strong and I can't wait to see them in the regular season.
