    Northwood vs Lee Sr. scrimmage

teams played 7 innings with Northwood unofficially winning 4-0. Austin Brice was on the bump first for the Chargers and went 2 innings with 5 K's. He was followed by Jon Polak who also went 2 with 3 or 4 K's and a couple of BB's. Kyle Hackney followed Jon with the next 2 innings recording 5 K's. Clay Martin wrapped up Northwood's pitching with 1 inning of work and 2 K's.
Offensively, the Chargers highlight was a Zack Groves triple.
A little humor... the back up catcher, Clay Cooper, dislocated his thumb (not the funny part!) so a 1st year varsity sophomore came in to catch. I guess he was a bit nervous. His first couple of throws back to the pitcher sailed over his head. After the next pitch he almost walked the ball all the way back to the mound!

Weddington did not look good last night against Kings Mountain or West Lincolnton. Losing 9-5 to WL and 7-0 to KM. Lot of work to do. Too many routine plays not being made. Jeff Howell of KM pitched 4 and pretty much dominated the Weddington line-up. Was moving the ball around the zone very well and backing up a very good fastball with a sharp breaking slider. Very good, early performance.

Couple of bright spots for Weddington:
Freshman Cam Tekker did well on the mound. Got in some trouble late, but overall performance was solid for first outing.
Freshman catcher John Mangum was solid behind the dish for both games.
    Junior Anthony Boone HR
Clay Trescher and Danny Yelverton each pitched one inning and spotted it up pretty well.

    Other than that--work to do.

As temperatures soared into the 60's it was a great evening for baseball. Luckily this game was a SCRIMMAGE. That's the way Hopewell approached it. Missing several starters i do believe Hopewell won the last 6 innings of the game. In the first two innings Butler scored 7 runs after the 3rd out should have been recorded in both innings. Again Hopewell missing several starters. In the third inning Butler did score big as Hopewell try's to discover a pitiching staff (using this game as a SCRIMMAGE). The Hopewell fielding was'nt at there best. It was a SCRIMMAGE. The pitcher you seen was Tyler Piercy that came in late in the third. Tyler did a great job. when all said and done Butler played well all nine innings of the SCRIMMAGE.

Hey wildcats 13. Tell me a little about your self. Who do you play for? who does your son play for? Who do you pull for? We are not to concerned over a SCRIMMAGE.

rain held off in cary and we got in a good afternoon of baseball. looked much improved from wednesday but still a ways to go.

believe the score was somethin like 7-3 or 7-4, cary over southeast raleigh. lots of substitutions across the board.

hunter carr (senior, unsigned) pitched two great innings for cary. eric pilecki (senior, unsigned) got the start for cary and pitched very well. these two are two of the top unsigned kids around wake county without a doubt. cary hit the ball very hard all afternoon.

southeast raleigh CF made an outstanding catch to end the afternoon.

2A Whiteville vs 4A South View

Great night on an absolutly beautiful field. The game was scoreless thru 7 innings. For the Wolfpack Chase Rhodes and Jimmie Davis threw 7 innings and only allowed 2 hits and 1 walk. For the Tigers Brandon Huffam didn't disappoint the UNC commit thru 4 innings allowing no hits and striking out 7. We played thur the 12th with the Tigers taking the victory 3-2 over the Wolfpack.

True... or play TO your ability... sometimes kids need the challenge to excel to heights that meet their potential. Hard nosed kids that scrap will go a long way. Teams that develop that scrappiness begin to play to their ability and then they live up to the reputation good programs want to develop.

I am lucky to have good kids, that will help us improve as the season progresses...

Plate Dad... you may be right, but I hope not... How do you like the 5 day forecast? Looks like baseball weather--- NC style, huh??:goingoninhere:
