Ardrey Kell looked good against Ft Mill 9-6 and Marvin Ridge 8-1. Josh Case, Brett Lang and Alex Bartolomeo went yard and the Knights had solid pitching with superior defense in the field.

What Dawgswood is to Nice To Say

What Dawgswood is to nice to say is that Alex Wood looked great. Faced 9 batters and struck them all out - although he only get credit for 7...

    Really fun to watch !

I only know the Weddington info and it is second hand, but here's what I know.

Weddington beat SE Gilford 11-4 and was beat by Veritas handily (score unknown). Weddington played their varsity starters in game on and only 1 inning in game two. Some real work to be done at the JV level. Some pretty noticeable movement on the infield for Weddington. Last years SS Trescher is over at 2nd while 1st/3rd baseman Collins may become a fixture SS to create consistency when Trescher pitches. A bit of a revolving door right now at the corners looking for the right mix. Solid returning outfield with Yelverton, Boone and Bonar. Three freshman seeing varsity time on this young team Payden Honeycutt at 3rd, John Mangum behind the dish and Cam Tekker getting some OF time.

Lot's of guys to the bump--Yelverton, Hendel, Tresher, Boone, Kersnowski, Morrison.

    Hendel---HR
    Collins 3-4 and a walk
    Yelverton 2-4, walk, double
    Mangum 2-4
    Honeycutt 2-4

There was a 5 team scrimmage at Page High School. I know the results from the first 2 games.

Southern Alamance 5 Page 1 in 4 innings of play

Southern Alamance 10 Southern Lee 5 in 4 innings of play

There is a lot more talent that initially thought. Mangum and Honeycutt come from baseball families; very talented...and with Hendel, Yelverton and Boone added with Tresher and the extremely talented Brad Collins: Wow, that's a formidable lineup.

Well, our day was pretty horrible. Don't know which team showed up, but hope it's not the one we'll have in the regular season. At least the coaches now know what they need to work on.
Green Hope looked really strong. Pitching looked a little spotty, but those boys can hit the **** out of the ball. Had 3 jacks in the first 2 innings...2 by one kid alone. Had a number of others keep our outfield working all game long.
New Bern started off slow, but came on strong in the later innings.
It wasn't all bad, there were a few bright spots in our line up and I was really impressed with one of Sophs that just moved up this year to Varsity. The kid got after it all day long.
    On to next week.
