Well, finally told my wife on Tuesday that while she works this weekend, me and the kids were taking a road trip to Stem. Her response was the typical, "you are crazy." For those of you that don't know her, my wife is 5"2 and 110 lbs of pure evil. :loveys:

Anyway, back to the point, How about a roll call of who all will be at Coach May's Boot Camp on Saturday? I am excited about the trip and getting to see some friends and families that I have missed over the last 2 1/2 months as well as some great instruction from Coach May and exciting BP.

    So who will be there?

My son and I will be there. And a word to the wise, if you're coming to Stem...it ain't exactly Raleigh, so if you want it, bring it with you when you come.

There are a few specialty shops close by if you need a few items such as

    catfish bait
    doe urine
    six pack of Bud
    shotgun shells
    camo underwear
    styrofoam coolers
and parts to a Mustang GT:13:

And I'm counting on you - "ncsu82" - yes you, to take care of Kevin, Josh, Nick and me! Of course with a 6 pack of Bud, I can make do without the other items....

    We'll see everyone Saturday morning!

    No need to worry!

My wife is going to open the concession stand. So you can get all that stuff ncsu82 was talking about right there at the field. Except the parts to the mustang. Most of the junk cars are located in the field on the other side of the outfield fence.

I had to laugh about that post ncsu82. My first year coaching out here I had two boys tell me they would be late for practice on Saturday. I said what are you talking about. We got to get us a buck coach! Well you can just guess what I said to them. So at 9am on Saturday they are sitting in the dugout waiting on the coaches to get there. Both of them with blood on their arms and hands. What the heck is going on guys? I told you we were going to get a buck! Sure enough in the back of the pickup is a nice looking buck a 6 pointer. Then they go on to tell me how one of the boys was gutting the deer and tells his friend "Hey man Im covered in blood put me in a dip of cope"! So his buddy pulls out his dip and pulls back his buddies lip and puts him in a dip while he cleans the deer.

Yep , Aint Stem beautifull! Now folks that is what I call team work! I always said if you can get up at 4am go get in a deer stand for 8 hours in 20 degree weather you shouldnt have no problem being on the baseball field when its 40.

    Saturdays in Stem

Everyone should spend a Saturday in Stem. Believe me you will never look at the world the same way again. We try to practice on Saturdays during the off season. Its alot of fun to spend the whole day at the ball field. But If you come to Stem you will see some things you just dont find everywhere. Now Im from the Bull City! Durham NC for those of you not familiar with the Bull City. Some folks call it the Bull &hitty. Things have kind of changed over the years. The first thing you will notice on a Saturday morning is all the cars lined up on the side of the roads. No its not a yard sale. No these are the hunters. They got the dogs in the cages in the back of the pickup trucks. Jacked up Toyotas seem to be the norm. Everyone has a slogan on the tailgate. The one I saw the other day was pretty good. "If its Brown its goin Down"! You make it up Main St and you see a guy riding around with a Buck lashed to the hood of the truck. No room in the back cause of the dogs. Blood dripping down the hood and everyone standing around talking about the big kill. Inside the local quick stop the first thing you notice is the big poster board with all the pictures on it. Heres John standing with his 9 pointer he killed on Mr Averettes Farm last Tuesday. Heres Billy , Johns nephew with the 8 pointer he killed on Mr Thompkins farm last Thursday. Picture after picture of guys with their prize kills. Its crazy folks. My boys and I actually ride around some Saturdays and just take it all in. We actually have a guy with a PU Truck painted up like Dale's racing car with a big ole #3 on the side of it. And he has a deer box in the back. Plus the big thing right now is dont wash off the dried deer blood from your truck. Leave it on there to show everyone you got a kill. When I first moved out to Stem I started getting letters in my mail box but not in envelopes. They were hand written letters. "Sir , we will gladly pay you to let us hunt your land. My boys and I are very safe hunters. We will only take the limit and we will not leave any trash behind. And we will gladly leave you some meat in your freezer!

Anyone ever seen a set of antlers bolted to the front of a pickup truck? Or a deer tail strapped to the bumper? Dont get me wrong the folks out here are some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. But its a whole different world.

I offered to take Braves with me tomorrow. Leaving around 3pm and heading straight for the NCSU vs. Davidson Basketball Game then on to the hotel in Creedmoor.

Yeah, I heard they take deer hunting seriously, but the military deer hunting was a bit unusual. I can't wait till Haskell and I book one of those trips
