Most were good some should not have been there.
Do you think a bat should be rejected because the grip tape is pealed up a little "exposing" the metal(the bat handle) underneath??

I heard lots of complaints about the balls... mostly from the big hitters. It certainly changed the dynamics of the game to more action. It seemed that they allowed changing to a "regular" ball during bracket play if both coaches agreed to it.

I found the upms did a good job in our games there were differsnt strike zones but all were consistent and thats what matters most. Blues did not like the balls either and up to Saturday evening there wee no home runs and I didn't even see a line drive make the 200 ft fence

    PRIDE SHOWCASE

This was our 1st. ASA/Showcase tournament & we enjoyed it. The balls were awful, but not as bad as the 2 hotdogs I had. The umps were consistent. The tournament was good & outside of getting the two Rocker coaches mixed up, I had a pretty good time. Found out Guru & John Fagala are not brothers & got to meet the real Momma Duck. Thanks to her little Duckling for playing for us this week-end. Stayed away from the Curve, didn't want what that Fain girl had. Except for all the lightning strikes & delays, it was a tolerable good week-end. David Hill

Let me re-word that. Are you talking about everyone that won think of the umps, or everyone that lost think of the umps? Is that better??

Our team played Sat. evening on field 4 (I think it was 4). Anyway, one of our coaches asked a rule question. The home plate umpire informed him (the coach) "one more time and you're ejected". Yes, I know what you're thinking.....something led to this.......Nope. The coach then said "I'm just asking what the rule is on that play". Coach was ejected. Situational ball game----offensive team had runner on 2nd..."batter - runner hit ball towards shortstop, who was fielding the ball, and the runner from 2nd ran into her (the shortstop)......field umpire immediately called time, and awarded the runner from 2nd third base and the "batter - runner was awarded 1st base. The coach asked the home plate umpire the rule on this, which is when the umpire made a spectacle out of it and ejected the coach. Unless the rule has changed, when I was umpiring high school softball, the fielder had the right to field the ball and the runner was allowed to go outside the 3 foot lane in order to avoid colliding with the fielder........am I wrong on this?

    Bad call

We have had several threads similar to this and the call was always interference on the runner. The runner must avoid the fielder making a play on the ball. If the runner comes into contact with a fielder, they are out. Batter should have been given first base...

Sounds pretty bad that the ump ejected the coach for simply asking a question but I wasn't there so don't want to comment further.

I believe the runner is out. But more importantly I believe the coach has the right to an explanation of the rule interpretation. Ejecting a coach should be considered a very serious act that should not be taken lightly. That's something that both the coach and the umpire should be aware of!!
