Umpire calls interference on base runner. Can this call be Protested and if it can, does it not have to be a RULE violation for the call to be reversed?

I think interference in more of a judgement call & not able to be protested.

    what was the call?

I think it would come down to whether it was a rule interpretation or a judgement call. Was the question whether you had to make contact or not for it to be interference? Or was the question just if there was interference or not? I heard about this and I was not there. I want to know if the other team was protesting that there had to be contact before there was interference and this was a rule interpretation on whether there had to be contact.

    interference calls

we had three interference calls in the same tournament you played in!!!!! we have always been told that if a base runner has established her path to the next base, she has the right to continue on that path, appartently no so, called out because the s/s ran into the runner, even though the s/s wasnt in the play. we protested to no avail, as this is considered a judgement call, ump wouldn't even consider asking for help from plate ump. had a base runner run around behind the s/s to avoid inteference, called out for leaving base line, even though no attemp was made to tag her as s/s didnt have the ball?????? confused as hell, we were!!!! had a blocking call at second due to the s/s dropping to one knee with the ball in her glove???? I believe that nsa needs to get its stuff in one sock, some very strange calls made this weekend, with most calls helping to determine the outcome of the game in a negative manner.

    Judgement call

A judgement call can never be protested. Right or wrong the call has to stand. It is like balls and strikes, out or safe, and even leaving the base to early. The protest committee wasn't even present and the director of the NSA Tournament didn't even have the rules manual. The people losing is the kids and that is a shame! The Carolina Pride showed a lot of class in the midst of bad desicions and that let me know what type of girls they are! Good job Pride!! :banginghe

Their own web page under protest reads (first line), all judgement calls are final! :twocents:

Was this call overturned during the game or after the game?
