    2000 and 200...

....ok prove it. Hey Heat, do you actually believe that Kirt had 2000 applicants? If so, email Kirt, I'll email Kirt, and ask to see the overall list. If in fact there were 1736 kids not accepted and Kirt can prove that, then why not prove it? Would that not shut up the naysayers?
Equally, you, respectfully, say that 200 coaches were there. Who were they? A few friends of mine who were there counted about 20. So if Kirt had 200 coaches sign in, then show us the list. Would that sign in list shut up the naysayers?
My DD was at the 1st QDSS, and it was great! And for $150, I'd reccommend this event to everybody.
My DD was at the 2nd yr QDSS, and sorry to say it was not as good as the 1st yr.
I contacted Kirt as a friend, not bitching what so ever and threw out a couple of possible options for QDSS format wise, to allow that ALL of the kids get an equal shot at showcasing thier talent.
1 at bat does not get it!
    1st yr. I saw atleast 100 coaches...awesome
    2nd yr. I saw maybe 35.

There are MANY holes in this event that Kirt wants to plug with facts that are not true.

How odd is this the 1st yr there was 2000 applicants and 264 accepted
Bam, 2nd yr, yep, 2000 apply, 264 get in
3rd yr, a very good friend of mine and his DD can PLAY got in WAY after the deadline.

This event can be one of the premeire events in the south if Kirt and his yes men will run it for the girls, and not for pure profit.

Fishman, with a sturdy bridge to sell

AMEN BROTHER. Finally someone is not worried about being "politically correct" on this board. I'm sure that after the first year college coaches saw right through the phony stats sent in by the player's parents and didn't waste their time with it anymore. It is pretty obvious. Had the truth been told the first year regarding talent level the coaches would have returned the second year but didn't. Not trying to bash anything or anyone just trying to make people aware of the truth as this is a informational forum. This event just like all the rest are to make money. I don't know of anybody so good that they will put up with what they have to for nothing. It insults our intelligence to hear them say "I don't do it for the money."

    The truth....

...is, this IS a decent opportunity for our kids. Especially given the FACT that its right here our backyard.
My opinion to anyone asking, ...if anyone asked, would be ,hell yeah, sign up, spend the $150, get all you can out of what Kirt is fielding.
One thing is for sure, the man can email your ass to the the bitter end.
All of these emails are geared for the kids to "market themselves" to the college coaches.
And then he wants you to market yourself to the college coaches.
    And then....get my point?
That part of Kirts plan is VERY helpful.

Now that I think about it a little bit more, it does make sense for Kirt to embellish stuff (if he is), to pump up the emotion, and excitement for the girls to get busy on the right path of the recruiting trail

Theres no hole in that aproach!

Folks, just be happy that theres a positive place for your kids to develop,
I beleive that QDSS is one of these place

    OK, I am in...

    Fish,
You know I luv ya man, but I want you to think about things a bit different...

You have one of the best players ever to play SB in NC. But not all kids are at her level. Not many in fact.

What Kirt is doing is giving all kids a chance to play in front of the SAME coaches (not all, but alot) that your daughter has auditioned for in the past.

Is he a marketing machine, no question. But he and his family are absolute Christian people who are trying to make a difference in the life of a kid. We went Friday night to the "show". One of our LB's players, Hayley Whitley, sang in the show. (she is awesome for those of you who were not there) and you could see the glow on her face.

Is he making money, yea, but if you were cut from the same cloth as him and an ultra successful business person, you would find more projects to do as well. He gives a good bit of that back to the community and to players who are less fortunate.

As far as his "yes men", those guys worked their butts off to make sure every kid had a great time.

He cares, thats the bottom line. My daughter played on another team and didn't know a soul. But she learned to adapt and play with other kids she had never layed eyes on until Saturday at 4pm.

I coached this weekend (not very well, I don't think), but the emails I got back from a couple of kids let me know I was in it for the right reason, to make a difference.

Same with Kirt and his family, to make a difference.

    Well Said

Well said! All I can add to this is that I had a great time, at a great showcase, with a great bunch of young ladies from OH, DE, VA, SC and NC. They were all there for the same reason, to play the game they love, play hard and hopefully catch the eye of a college coach or two. The college coaches were there from every level and the ladies got exposure. Can't ask for anything more.

The QDSS is certainly not a premier showcase, but it is a good event to patronize. If ONE kid got signed or put on the radar screen because of the QDSS, then it was a worthwhile event.

Next year, instead of going to the QDSS, all the girls can go play at the premier showcase that FISHMAN is putting on. He is guaranteed to have at least 2001 applicants and 201 college coaches there!

It's so easy to throw stones when you've never even attempted to put on a showcase tournament, right Fish? Your condemnation of the QDSS is wrong.....dead wrong. If you don't like the tournament, don't play in it. Don't ruin it for the girls and families that found it fun and worthwhile.

OF COURSE the organizers are in it for the money. It's the way they make a living....duh! The QDSS may not be perfect, but it's a heckuva lot better than ALL THE OTHER showcase events that were available last weekend in the Charlotte area!?!?!??!

    Perspection!

Thats the way to keep it all in perspective! Good point, well said. We can always find fault with anything. Only ONE is PERFECT.

There have been alot of good points made in this thread. I guess it's all a matter of one's Perspection (new word! :trampoline:) -
My family had a great time. There were coaches there. Nobody sat the bench. The fields were in great shape. The weather was great. Good Friends, Good Fellowship and some decent softball...... where's the problem?

Compared to what we have spent to go out of town for some "showcases" or high level tournaments - where the only coach there was from a JUCO 6 hours away..... this was a bargain!!! and..... Kirt sent some great emails from Bejiing - what a bonus!
