    Amen!

Letters are cheap. Emails and text messages are cheaper. Visit unofficially and, if you have the luxury in today's commit ASAP world, visit officially. You can never be sure she's really seeing the true picture but the more time she can spend at a school the greater chance of making a good decision.

It's funny. The ban of text messages was in response to complaints from recruits. And it has been met by mixed comments from coaches. Some will say it's the most effective way to communicate with this generation. Other coaches say, "great, coaches need to be doing what they are supposed to----coach!"

But it does seem that the majority of coaches find this to be a knee jerk response and that coaches will find a new way or loophole if you will. It's the technical information age and while some coaches are computer illiterate, many are very computer savvy.

"In 2007, the NCAA voted by an overwhelming majority to prohibit coaches from sending text messages to recruits, since many coaches saw in the popular communication tool a loophole. Existing NCAA legislation limited how many calls a coach can make to a prospect, but placed no limits on the number of prospect-initiated calls, so coaches targeted the recruits with text messages that read simply, “Call me.” The practice became intrusive, and often expensive, for highly sought-after athletes. The new rule, which went into effect Aug. 1, is just one of many related to technology found within the nearly 50 pages that address recruiting in Article 13 of the NCAA Division I Manual."

    You may be correct

They did outlaw texting but I think are reconsidering that ruling. I'll have to text my coaching friend and I'll tweat you the response:bucktooth:

You are correct Dukedog. They are supposed to revisit this. The talk is to allow texting, but to limit it to certain days of the week.
