have made some phone calls this morning, this combat "reportly" is testing +10 over the maximum after breaking in. it may not be grandfathered as it is already over the maximum specfications set forth for this bat and if i'm told right, this is the replacement bat for the previously banned lady virus. is that correct????

one of my very good and respected friends said i'm coming off as a kinda counter salesman for combat. honestly, my pitchers fear this bat, its hot, but conversations with ASA and others lead me to believe that may be a short lived bat. Perhaps we could get a rep from combat to come on and talk to us about their future plans, as was suggested to me. i will try and contact someone at combat who can answer questions pertaining to their future with this bat.

OK, got off my butt and called Combat and talked to a very nice gentleman who goes by the name of Frank Griffin. This is it in a nutshell: the combat virus fp passes all ASA regulations as they are now. which means that out of the wrapper, its holds the 98 rating. new standards are going to take affect soon (but no one knows when) from ASA that will test these same bats after a predetermined breakin period. I asked if they would pass this test, and he would not comment on that, as in all honestly he said he didnt know. i asked about the end cap problem with the bat and he stated the reject ratio was within their set normal range of rejects. he said they wouldnt break if ya didnt hit it off the end of the bat...true i guess. i thanked him on behalf of TBR and now we have it from the horses mouth (no insult Frank, just slang).
