Without getting back into the issues in the locked thread, I would like to know what the groundrules are here. If everyone had been singing APs praises, I think the thread would have gone on forever. I think some people were letting off some steam but I would not call it bashing. It could have been much worse and much more personal. Its clear that AP has as many detractors as friends. Thats the way it is in the public eye. I saw nothing posted in the closed thread that should warrant closing it. JMHO.

Well I guess I took the most shots and just decided that it was time to end it instead of rehashing it again and again. There were some that felt it should be closed so I just locked it and left for people to still read, but felt the point had been made. If I made a mistake by locking it then I am sure I will hear about it. He is good friends to some on here and I did what I thought was in the best interest of the board. Any mod on here can unlock it again if they feel it is the right thing to do, won't hurt my feelings one bit.

You're right and it could have...but I allowed people to vent their frustrations until it became a "dead horse". It's true I am a big believer in Andy Partin and what he tries to do. For those that know him personally, we know the commitments he makes to his players...and to answer someone's question, many of his players pay little or none to join his team vs some of the fees that some other "showcase" teams pay.

To put things into perspective, Impact is like $800 (which includes shoes, 3 uniforms and bat bags)...On Deck is around $3,000 (which includes uni's and year round facilities with staff) and the Dallas Mustangs is $10,000 per year, offering similar accessories.

The point being, with the prestige that Impact Baseball has gained statewide and regionally, he charges much less than most. He has proven to me time and time again that he cares about the kids and their futures. Nobody has better contacts and nobody works harder for his players with those contacts. You can be sure if your son plays for his team, he will help get your son to a school.

I have personally seen him waive his fees to many of his players with limited resources. Is he the only one that does that? Of course not. But, it's another example that Andy is not about just making money.

Does Impact deserve the feedback they have received from some of our posters? Yes, I believe they do...and I have allowed it. One thing I am proud of is that our history has shown that even if we disagree, we do so respectfully.

There is a fine line determined if a thread is made to bring up an important topic or if the topic turns into a personal attack...and that's what the moderators are for. Some people will agree, some people will not, but that's why Mudcat and dbacks gets paid the big bucks.

I'll give you an example of a post that wasn't going to go anywhere. PhillyDave, who is one of our best posters, was curious about a rumor involving Coach Bagwell moving to another school. He didn't mean any harm in posting his question. His reputation is as a contributor. He was just curious about the rumor. But it was embarrassing to Coach Bagwell to read that, as I' sure it was uncomfortable to his players and parents. We try not to embarrass anyone...players or coaches

We don't always make the right decisions, but we try...and that's all that you can ask for.

    Well said, Braves.

Your comments take me all the way back to the formation of this board. An important reason for its creation was that there was a perceived need for a place that could serve as a regional resource for parents and players of all ages; a place where people could know that they'd be treated with respect consistently.

Hats off to you and all of the rest of the Moderators for achieving that. I know it's brought many challenges and required much dedication.
