Am I correct in assuming that if DD's team is only playing in one venue, say NSA, that she can play with another team in another venue, say AAU? Thanks:)

to my knowledge, that is correct, you can play on one team on nsa, one on asa, one on aau, one on usssa, etc, etc.

    Facts

A player can play on a 14U team and 16U team in ASA because they are considered seperate divisions. A player could play NSA on one team and ASA, USSSA, USFA, or WFC on another team. Or visa versa!

welcome sam and e's to this board rocks softball forum. but i dont believe that you can be on a 14u roster and 16u roster and play on both teams in the same tournament, but i could be wrong, maybe we can get a ruling on this from scasa or bmac1. either one of you directors care to give us a ruling?????

    ASA Rule

In ASA, Once a player plays a qualifier in whatever age group, say
14u B, she is locked onto that teams roster in that age group and that class for any other Qualifiers. If she does move up and plays 16u, then she cannot come back down to play 14u, she is now Locked into 16u until after Nationals. Even if she stays in the same age group, but plays 14u A she cannot go back to play 14u B until after Nationals.

The Exception is, if a team has not played a qualifier, just ASA invitationals, you can bounce around from team to team, age group to age group all you want as long as the Tournament Directors allow it.
Not a big fan of this myself!!

    Hope this helps,

    ASA, NSA, USSSA playing, etc.....

I have shared my former players with other coaches and vice versa as far as NSA, AAU, WFC, USSSA, and ASA go. My DD loves to play the game and wants to be on the field every weekend if possible. Last year a team that I coached combined with another team and formed one ASA & USSSA team. A good friend of mine ran into some trouble finding players for the NSA state and World Series(injuries, school camps.etc), so we dropped out of NSA and released all players who wanted to go to his team and played both tournaments. The problem with that was we folded in the fall. Not related, but still folded. This year my DD has been on 3 different teams playing in WFC, ASA, and NSA. All teams involved knew that her NSA team was first and took priority. I do not consider this team hopping, but giving her an extra opportunity to play.

    play while you can

A player should have ALL respect as far as playing opportunities are concerned. Especially from from coaches who have control over the release forms. These DDs are our biggest asset and no doubt the love of our lives. Why then would ANYBODY inhibit their progress without regard to a team or coach. Oh I forgot, THE TEAM THAT MOM AND DAD ARE PAYING FOR! Life is good.
