    oh ok - so the ump had not called that pitch a strike.

    ...correct, and what should hit the catchers in the head is to know the rule and not give up a ball to your pitcher next time.

    NO SLANDER whatsoever.

    Catchers play a big role in every game and the more info they have packed in their head the better.

    I hope in some way this oddity will help a kid behind the plate somewhere down the road.

    Mind if I derail this a bit... I like the throw-around after a strike out but I always wondered why a catcher would throw it to 3rd instead of 1st when it seems to this amateur that it would be better to get into a habit of throwing it to 1st in the event of dropped 3rd strike.
