    Thanks From The Reaves Family

It has been a long / fun road, and I just wanted to say if you kids are looking to play college ball , give it all you got,and keep emailing those colleges of your choice. My daughter is so excited to be able to play next level ball next fall, and my wife and myself will be there to support her. She did extremely well on her SAT scoring 1,210 on the critical writing / math & another 610 on the essay for a 1,820. Her scholarship means alot to her, and we personally thank all those that have shown us LOVE through the years.

To all who love the game of fast pitch softball. I remember the first time I saw a fast pitch softball game it was when my 10 year old niece was playing up near Asheboro, N.C. I was so amazed how the young girls threw like boys and the fun and competition that the game brought. At that point I told myself once my baby daughter got to a certain age I was going to introduce her to the game, and so begins my daughter career. I put a bat in her hand at the ripe age of 5, and she seemed to naturally swing it, then I put a ball in her hand, and she struggled at first, but the more she kept throwing the better she controlled the ball. About a year went by I decided to put her in a church supported league called SOAR, there she played coached pitch with the boys for about 2 years, surprisingly she was faster and quicker than most of the boys, and appeared to have more natural talent than the majority. During her young career at SOAR somebody mentioned to me about a recreation league in Indian Trail , N.C., where maybe she would get more challenged so I moved her there at the ripe age of 8 years old. Again she seemed to be as good or better than most of the kids that she played with the exception of one team who was coached by Dennis Gamble, who at the present time is one of my best friends. His kids seemed to be as talented or better than Rebekah, so of course we started talking and the following year we played for him on his recreation team called the Indian Trail Fireballs. We had so much talent on the team that one day Dennis asked me was I ready to venture out into the travel ball realm. At that time I didn’t know what travel ball was or how much money and time it would take up, all I knew is that my daughter was showing more ability and if this would get her better than I was all for it. So we started off playing somewhere in the neighborhood of 14-16 tournaments the first summer. Wow was that exhausting ,but fun the first year we played 10U ball we won the USSSA State, and the NSA State tournaments. We had only played that one summer and already twice State Champs. I thinking to myself this is so cool ,and my daughter was having a great time and learning and getting better all the time. As we moved to 12U some of the girls started to quit so it forced us to pick up other girls so that we could continue or play. We picked up some great talent ,ie..Allie Cashion ( Appalachian Signee) , Amanda McArthur ( Mars Hill Signee), Jazz Robins ( Almost Signed), my daughter Rebekah Reaves ( Verbal To Gardner Webb ) she will sign in November. All this talent on one ball team. Dennis one day surprised me with an offer by one great coach / friend ( Rodney Threat ) that was going to let us use his organization and become the Lady Blues 12U. I was so excited knowing that this organization would help further our goals. As 12U we again won the USSSA State and the NSA State Championships, as 14U we won the WFC State in Raleigh ,and the WFC World at Myrtle Beach, S.C. We were now 5 time State Champs ,and a World Champ. But as you know all good things come to an end, and as the girls got to the 16U some of them found other interest, and moved on. Rebekah played for a few travel teams after that, but finally found the team that she has enjoyed the most the Carolina Curve Elite, coached by Jason Henneman and Jeff Fain. Rebekah has learned a lot from these guys, me I quit coaching her ,you know the daughter dad thing. This year of 2009 Rebekah has finally met her goals after 13 years of playing ball, she got the opportunity to be recruited by Gardner Webb, there were other schools after her, but this seemed her best fit as a student and as a player. After 13 years of park food, motel stays, hot sun, and many gallons of water, the light is really shining bright in Rebekah’s life. Rebekah has one more year of high school softball under the guidance of Coach Tad Baucom, who has really took her under his wing and became a friend to her over the past years. Rebekah has worked hard like most other kids, giving up summer after summer vacations to fulfill her dream ,and it is finally coming to past. She will graduate in the spring of 2010, then I have 4 more years hopefully to watch her fulfill her goals as a student and as a college softball player.

    Best Regards,

    Brian Reaves
