seems like every year, we have to replace our catching equipment in hs. I need someone to recommend some quality equipment for our catching staff - helmet, etc, etc

also need to look at face shields for batter helmets, know some new ones are on the market, which ones do you prefer and why. want something with lots of visiability.

    face masks....

I have used the Schutt, Rip-it, and the spyder masks.....and the one I like the best is the Spyder. It's the lightest out of ALL of them, and it has the BEST visibility....

I liked the Rip-it too.....but the Spyder was lighter....and the Schutt is just plain heavy....

My catching equipment is from a former college player, and it's Schutt, and it's still in VERY good shape. I want the Easton Cool Flow helmet though...it's really light......and I haven't tried any other gear....

My daughter has used the same Rawlings gear for 4 years. I recently purchaced her a new larger set of Rawlings gear but, the helmet was a little large on her. I bought her a new Pro Nine helmet in a little smaller size. I was surprised at the quality I got for the cheaper price . The padding seems to be anchored in a little better. The metal face mask seem to be thicker and the mouth pad is real leather in the Pro Nine mask instead of fake leather.

I do not know how it will hold up over a season or two compared to the Rawlings helmet but, looking at two new helmets I would say the Pro Nine should last longer.
