Keep in mind, these early-early commitments, although it is growing, is still a very small group of players. To date, it is rare for anyone committing to a school, to back off. The reverse is true, too.

Let me mention a couple of early commitments that the player was injured later. Justin Poovey (arm injury) and Addison Johnson (arm injury and I believe his knee, also) The school, Clemson, could have backed away from their commitment to both of these guys...but all parties honored their commitment. (Isn't that what a commitment is?)

    $$$

During the process at each school he went to, he was offered a dollar amount from each one. No percentages were done but you can do the math after the amount.
He was told by all the coaches that the only way to lose his scholarship offer was grades, alcohol or drug violations, or anything that will put the college or university in a situation that they have to make a decision on your acceptance. Injuries during high school was discussed but all schools told him that they would not pull an offer accept for the above infractions.

If there is one thing that made this process much easier was having good grades in school. Most coaches were more concerned about the grades and the make up of the person than the athletic ability. Obviously that makes the difference but it was never discussed in all of the conversations that we had with coaches.

Good luck to everyone who will be going through this process at any level because it is an exciting time but do your homework. Visit each school, look at rosters, make sure the school offers academically what your student wants. Go Heels!!

Great post Heels...thanks for sharing; especially the academic part. The giving back to others is so important in their help during recruiting

heels0710 & Braves, very interesting info. Heels, I appreciate the candor. We're past that stuff now, but others will read eagerly read this & want to pick your brain.

Greg's going to get paid to play someday...and when that happens Ty & I will be rooting for him all the way. Oh yea...and we'll be asking for boxseats too.
