It was a league for college players back in the mid-late 70's, & maybe the early 80's as well.
Several area colleges UNC, Louisburg, UNCW, ECU, NCSU?, (others?) had teams.

Anyone have recollections about this league from back in the day?

I remember (back in the days) they had the Cape, Alaska and Clark Griffith---there may have been others, but I never heard of them. Most players devoted their summers with summer school or found great alumni jobs (if you know what I mean.) But playing ball in the summer after competing all spring? Nah, we needed the time off! Times have changed, but here is what I like about summer college baseball. Many young players (freshmen and soph's) may not have been given a lot of PT, so the summer is where they can knock the rust off and develop other areas to improve. The key is they want to be better to compete in the fall for a position.

    Yes I remember....

...and actually played in it in the summer of 1978 between my freshman and soph years at Louisburg. I'm sure i have some news clippings somewhere boxed away but Louisburg actually won the league...I think. Although iirc the bigger schools sent their best players to higher profile leagues and used that league for development where Louisburg kept their team intact which back in that day would consistantly go to the NJCAA World series in grand Junction. The main things I remember are long bus rides back from UNCW arriving in the early a.m. One trip the bus broke down and the sun came up before we got back to Louisburg. Atlantic Christian College (Barton) was also in that league. man, now you're making me want to go pull those clippings...where did I put those dang things?
