With Freeman pitching I was hoping that he could keep the Titans within a reasonable distance, oh well...

    Grimsley 9 East Forsyth 0

Grimsley improved to 14-5, 6-2 in The Metro 4A. East Forsyth suffered its first loss in the conference at 7-1.
Freshman George Carter pitched 6 scoreless innings yielding only one hit by Ryan Dull. Dull pitched 3 innings giving up 3 runs in the first. Grimsley broke it open with 6 in the fourth. Carter, Pat Oechsli and Andrew Justice knocked in the first inning runs after Matt Netteshiem led the inning off with a double.
Grimsley raps up its conference play with High Point Central on Friday and Smith on Tuesday. East plays Northwest Guilford on Friday after beating Smith 17-0 today. If Northwest can beat East, and Grimsley wins out, it could be a 3 way tie for atop the conference.
The word is, High Point Central was beating Page 8-1 when rain halted the game in the 5th.

AK clinches at least a tie for 1st place.

Wow. Maiden over Hibriten 8-3! http://www.newstopic.net/articles/2008/04/23/sports/46hibby.txt

Really happy for Wyant and Rothlin. These two have loaded up this team on their backs and carried them this season. Good luck the rest of the way!

    South Meck @ Butler

    SM 4 9 2
    Butler 1 3 1

Joe Shealy (WP) pitched an outstanding game for SM, keeping Butler off balance all night. SM defense was solid, with their only errors on the same play leading to Butler's single run.

    St. Stephens 8 Patton 0

    WP - Jason McEachern (9-0) CG, 16 K, 2 BB, 4 Hits
    LP - Steven Dyson

    Leading Hitters

    Saint
Eric Shaver 2-3, single, double 4 RBI
Matt Rowe 2-3, single double, 1 RBI

    Patton
Newton (no first name in my book, sorry) 2-3

Saint jumped on top early with 3 in the first and never looked back. Patton loaded the bases in the 3rd and got 2 on in the 7th, but McEachern worked his way out of those jams and cruised most of the night. The win combined with Maiden's win over Hibriten and Foard's win over Bunker Hill puts Saint, Foard and Hibriten in a 2-way CVAC tie with 2 games left.

    Saint 14-6 (12-4 CVAC) - hosts W. Caldwell Thursday 4/24

Grimsley came out and flat out swung the sticks tonight. Dull did not have his "A" game and Grimsley exploided that in the 1st. Dull calmed down and pitched a 1-2-3 2nd and 3rd, but the Eagles were not hitting and the coaching staff decided to take him out after only 40 pitches. If I had to guess Dull will be throwing Friday night. If East wins Friday night, East will lock up a tie for 1st with High Point Central to play on Tuesday.

    East is 16-4 (7-1)
Dull is now 9-1 on the year.
East leading hitters were Dull 1 for 3, Shane Dickerson 1 for 3, and Robbie Wodarcyzk 1 for 3 2B
