    Andy

Yes he is.. He is a good leader and the boys seem to respect him. He seems to be having a good time too! There are only 2 seniors on the team. That makes next year seem even more exciting! He has good players sitting... The boys have worked hard through the years and I guess about 6 or 7 of them played for me on my Angels and Mariners teams so you know they paid the price!! hahahaha I am so proud of them I can't stand it.

Fantastic game between the Mid-State 3A rivals. South Granville won 3-1 in 11 innings.

    Pratt Maynard went 9 innings for SG. (11 K, 4 BB, 5 H, 1 ER). He left in a 1-1 tie. Jason Groce went 10 innings for SA. (9 K, 3 BB, 4 H, 1 ER).

Maynard homered in the 7th to send it to extra innings.

Josh Darroch came on for the Vikings to record the win. He's now 5-1.

Murphy took the loss when he surrendered two runs on two hits in the 11th. RBI singles from Clarence Peace and Amos Tilley after Maynard and Jeff May walked to begin the inning provided the final margin. A heads up baserunning job by May to score from 2nd on a slow roller and throw to 1B gave SG the lead.

Rankin had three hits for the Patriots.

    South Granville 3 6 1
    Southern Alamance 1 6 1

    Records:
    South Granville 14-4, 5-0
    Southern Alamance 9-6, 4-1

    Great night at the ballpark

On a rare off day from umpiring and with the sun finally out this week I decided to head down Hwy 301 to see a much talked about rematch between Wilson Fike (9-3) and CB Aycock (12-4).

I knew I would get to see some outstanding players such as the smooth switch hitting shortstop Connor Narron, power hitter and defensive stud Jacob Davis, excellent catchers in Zack Wright and Zac Crumpler, speedy centerfielder Will Edgerton and the good looking righty Bentley Massey. I also got to spend some time with good friends Ed Spence and Jerry Narron talking the talk.

A nice surprise was the two sophomore starting pitchers lefty Eric Debose for CBA and righty William Prince for WF. Both pitched good games with Prince clocked at 83-85 and Debose at 73-75. CBA got 1 more run than WF and Debose went the distance in the 3-2 win.

    NOTES:

Narron is going to be a special one. Great body with speed and the mannerisms of a pro player. Laced a good pitch opposite field in his second at bat.
Davis went yard with his 4th home run of the season and made a fine diving catch to end a scoring threat.
Massey tossed two perfect innings striking out 4 including Narron who has only struck out a few times this year.
Crumpler hit the bomb of the night which went 399' and was caught at the fence by Edgerton....it would have tied the game and maybe we would still be playing ball.
Wright did a great job framing pitches for strikes.
Baseball Britt was there covering the game for Impact so catch his version of the game later this week at Impactbaseball.com

    North Davidson defeats Ledford

    Ledford 2
    North Davidson 12

    Led 000 20 2 4 3
    N D 123 42 12 9 0

North Davidson is now 12-1 overall and 3-1 in the Central Piedmont Conference
Ledford is now 13-2 overall and 6-0 in the Central Carolina Conference

North Davidson picked up their second win in as many days on Thursday while handing Ledford their second loss of the season. Zach Joyce picked up the win giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. He struck out 9 and walked 2 in 4 innings of work. Levi Michael pitched the 5th inning for the Knights...walking one, striking out two and giving up one hit.

Ricky Vaughn started for the Panthers and picked up the loss. He shared pitching duties with Cory Alcon and Jacob Scott.

The Black Knight bats were on fire again tonight! Tyler Hanover was 2 for 4 with a Grand Slam in the 4th, the game winning hit in the 5th and 5 total RBI's; Jarrett Albright was 2 for 2 with a double; Clay Watson was 2 for 3 and Matt Nifong was 2 for 3. Levi Michael was only 1 for 1 with a double and 1 RBI...but walked 3 times and Zach Joyce was hit by a pitch 3 times.

Ricky Vaughn was a bright spot in the Panther's offense, going 2 for 2 with a double.

The Black Knights are in action tomorrow (Friday) night in a Central Piedmont Conference game at West Forsyth at 7:00.

    Go Black Knights!
