South Caldwell takes over sole possession of 1st in NW4A standings

The Spartans continued their impressive play defeating East Burke 13-2 with the game being called in the 5th by the 10 run rule. Both teams entered the game tied for the conference lead with 1 loss each. South's only loss on the season was a 1-0 nailbiter to Watauga. East Burke's only conference loss entering the game was 13-0 to South. SC goes to 15-1 on the season and appear to be serious contenders for another state championship.

Cody Poarch gets the win for the Spartans while Cody Penny gets the save coming in for relieve in the 4th as Poarch walked in the 2nd run with bases loaded with 1 out and East Burke threatening. Penny quickly struck out both batters he faced to get out of the inning.

Penny also was steller at the plate all night and hit a deep 2 run shot to left. Brad Chavis hit a Grand Slam bomb in the bottom of the 5th to end the game. Chavis' shot off a hanging curve ball was well over 400' as it completely cleared the top of the trees way out in the left field woods. This was Brad's 4th HR in the last 2 games.

not many details - only saw the last inning. I do know Nick McBride (4-1) started and got the win. Nate Cash hit a homerun, Alex Walters was 4-4 (he's hitting the ball well these days), saw a double by Cody Myers, a 2 RBI single by Desean Anderson and Kyle Brandenburg picthed a 1,2,3 seventh.

Ragsdale now 14-3, 7-2. At Glenn Monday night.

Randleman beat Trinity 7-0 tonight and is also 7-2 in conference (11-5 overall).

    What a night

HOLY COW....I was scheduled to call this game but at the last minute got sent to USA Baseball Complex to call NCST vs Elon Club team game. Not sure if I got the best end of the deal as my game was 9 innings with NCST winning 13-12 and the game lasting 3:21 hrs/minutes. UNREAL. Elon centerfielder dove and broke thumb allowing NCST to tie game on inside the park two run homer in the 8th. Best part of night was going to PF Changs for a very late dinner. I have not been out past midnight in years.

    Titans over Black Knights 2-1

The scouts covering the field to watch some prospects, West Forsyth defeated North Davidson 2-1 in a key CPC matchup. Alex Robertson ( APP. St.) bested Zach White (Wake Forest) with both throwing 5 -hitters. Jonthan Holt led the way for West by going 3-3 with a 2B with help from Sammy Lucas who went 2-2. North Davidson (Jordan Slate) hit an early HR for a 1-0 lead. West tied it in the 5th on a throwing error by the ND. North Davidson loaded the bases in 6th but 2 strikeouts by Robertson ended the threat. West loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 6th and Holt's 3-1 single to left drove in Garrison Lassiter with the go ahead run. ND had a quiet top of 7th and West came away with the victory. West goes to 4-1 in the conference and 12-4 overall. North Davidson is 3-2 in conference and 11-2 overall. The conference is going to be a battle with West and Davie tied at 4-1, ND and Mt. Tabor tied at 3-2. Many fireworks yet to come.

    Tough Conference

Wow that sounds like a great game between two outstanding teams. Congrats on a big win over an outstanding baseball team. JH continues to come up big for WF. This race should be a blast coming down the stretch. Imagine if only one team could make the playoffs. How intense would these last few games be then?
