    If true.....

If Lake Norman defeat SE Guilford as reported.....then the NPC went 5-1 tonight with 4 teams winning on the road and 3 of those teams knocking off #1 seeds.

    Hopewell over Alexander Central

    Hopewell - 11, Alexander Central - 0 (5 innings)

    WP - Waters
    LP - Caudle

Adam Waters threw an awesome game, allowing only 2 hits. Titan bats were strong too, with Fisher, Prowse, Waters all having multiple hits. Lots of singles scattered about by the Titans. Next up is for Hopewell is Grimsley.

In the RM game Senior Chris Berry hurled a no hitter with no walks and 9 strikeouts, he also had 2 doubles and 2 rbi's.......3 batters reached on errors for Dudley but were erased on double plays so the minimun batters were faced.

NNash will now host a playoff game Tuesday as South Johnston upset Rockingham.

    Anson Cnty 000 100 0 -- 1 1 3
    --Ragsdale- 002 021 X -- 5 7 1
WP Nick Mcbride (6-3) 16 SO, 1 hit
    LP Hildreth?
Ragsdale – Billy Stone 2-3, HR, run, RBI Ben Fultz 1-2, HR, 2 runs, RBI
Nick McBride 1-3, DB, RBI Cody Myers 1-2 Brandenburg 1-3 Ryan Andrejco 1-2, run

Nick McBride struck out 16 tonight, yielding only one hit to lead Ragsdale into the second round. McBride was dominating at times but still had control issues from time to time as he walked six and hit two batters. He started out shaky with a couple of walks, a fielders choice and a wild pitch had runners on second and third with one out, but McBride struck out the next two to end the threat. McBride continued in the zone in the second as he struck out the side on about 12 pitches.

Ragsdale looked to have something going in the second as Nate Cash drew a one out walk and Cody Myers took one in the back. Billy Stone followed with a sharp single to center but Matt High the Anson CF made a great throw to nail Cash at the plate and Myers got caught between bases to end the threat. McBride looked to be in control in the third getting two quick outs, but he lost the plate and loaded the bases on a hit batter and two walks. But he ended another inning with a big strike out (he struck out the last batter in all six innings he finished).

Anson played pretty good defense tonight but a two out error in the third was a big one. After Kyle Brandenburg was HBP with two outs, Ben Fultz launched a high fly ball to CF. It carried further than it looked like it would and the CF lost it at the wall and by the time he picked it up Fultz was half way to third and made it home easy to put Ragsdale up 2-0.

Anson got one back in the fourth as McBride struck out the side but in between strikeouts he gave up walk, a hit batter and a two out single to Matt High. Ragsdale did more two out damage in the fifth as Ben Fultz made sure there was no doubt he next one was out as he smacked a line drive over the CF wall. Ryan Andrejco followed with a single of the 2B’s glove and Nick McBride brought him home on a single he stretched into a double as second base was left uncovered.

Ragsdale ended the scoring in the sixth as Billy Stone found a pitch he liked with two outs and drove one over the 375 mark in center to put Ragsdale up 5-1. McBride came in to end the game but after a strike out and a walk, Maness brought in Brandenburg to close it out.

On to Glenn for round two where Ragsdale looks to avenge a 7-6 loss from earlier this year.
