West Florida held off a late rally by Sonoma State to win 5-4 tonight in Winners Bracket play.

Wednesday at the USA National Training Complex...
    3pm - Mt. Olive (1-1) vs. Millersville (1-1)
7pm - Sonoma State (1-1) vs. South Connecticut State (1-1)

    Thursday...
    3pm - West Florida (2-0) vs. TBA (Mt. Olive/Millersville)
7pm - Winona State (2-0) vs. TBA (Sonoma/South Conn. St.)

If UWF and WSU both win on Thursday then they will play each other on Saturday at noon for the title. If either of them or both of them lose then there will be baseball on Friday (1 or 2 games).

West Florida and Winona State are in the "driver's seat".

Mount Olive moves on to play another day

With all the scoring occurring in the 6th inning, #2 Mount Olive defeated #16 Millersville 5-2. Millersville had 13 LOB!

Michael Knox was 0-3 with 3 K's. I wonder if his injured hand is a factor or just better pitching?

Next up for Mt. Olive is #4 West FL at 3:00 tomorrow in another elimination game for the Trojans.

I only saw one of the K's for Knox today and it was a called strike three on a either-way type of call. I think he will be fine.

So. Conn. State came from a 3-0 deficit to eliminate Sonoma State tonight by a 6-4 score.

    Tomorrow:
    3pm - Mt. Olive (2-1) vs West Florida (2-0)
    7pm - So.Conn.St. (2-1) vs Winona State (2-0)

    Friday:
    TBA.. 1, 2, or 0 games

    Saturday:
    Noon - Championship

I've thought all along that West Florida was the best team in town this week but Winona has looked mighty good as well. Winona got down 4-0 after one tonight and immediately answered with 4 in the next half inning. I told the boys that the game was over right then. It was close by WSU closed it out.

It'll be a battle on Saturday. If you aren't busy and are nearby at all, it'll definitely be worth the drive to Cary!
