believe!!! nobody got this prediction right tonight...

post game was the difference... reynolds played all 4 quarters, a complete game... mcdowell has played better, but have they seen this sort of defense... they seemed a little rattled and ACR handled the boards...

32 and 42 led the way for the reynolds... i think 10 and 31 had to have double figures as well, though i am not sure...

lovik seemed to drill every open look she got, but didn't have a lot of help tonight, and didn't get tons of looks... she had to stick 4 or 5 threes i think...

atkinson had some steals, but couldn't get her shots to fall at all tonight...

fun game, closer than the final score indicates...

great game for the lady rockets

Congrats to ACR on the big win. Does anyone know the scores form SC and AC or the EB vs Freedom games? Fill us in

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
I am a Reynolds fan, and I am stunned by the outcome. I knew ACR had it in them, but wasn't sure they would pull it out. Sydney Alexander (#32) had 22 points, and Brianna Worley (#42) had 16, points, Alex Thompson (#10) had 14 points, and Katie Rybacki (#31) had 11. ACR really did a great job feeding the post and Alexander did a great job inside. ACR hit 9 threes, and all five starters hit at least one three. This win really puts ACR in a good position for the remainder of the conference. Having 4 of their last 6 conference games at home. Yes, we do have to travel to McDowell to end the year, but IF we can win the other 5 heading into that game we will be guaranteed a tie for the conference, and like I said 4 of those 5 are at home! The only road game is this Friday night at East Burke. Congrats to the Lady Rockets you played a great game tonight!

I think Freedom beat EB 101-52. Don't hold me to the score. I know they won, but I'm not totally sure of the score. I had to listen to the radio.

Maybe someone else knows for sure.

Freedom won by that score and played much better than they did vs McDowell. Leah Barrier scored 34 to lead all scorers.

    Updated conference standings...

Here are the updated conference standings after tonight's games:

    1. Reynolds 6-0
    2. McDowell 5-1
    3. Freedom 4-2
    4. South Caldwell 3-3
    5. East Burke 2-4

I don't know the records for both Watauga and Alex. Central, but overall it looks like these five teams are gonna play for four playoff spots as we enter the 2nd half of the conference schedule.

Congrats to Reynolds on a huge win tonight against McDowell. I would almost bet money that Reynolds shot over 60 percent tonight from the field. They could not miss a 3 pointer. The game started with an 11-2 run, with 9 of the 11 coming behind the arc. McDowell answered with a 16-6 run to have a 18-17 lead after one period. Emily Lovik has 13 of McDowell's 18 in the first. But after then, McDowell, for some reason, did not get the ball to her much more the rest of the night. That is very unusual for the Lady Titans to do that.

The other key to tonight's win was the play inside. Reynolds owned the boards all night long. Sidney Alexander ate Aimee Kiser and the other post players for lunch. Christina Bruington was the only McDowell post player that would not let Alexander get position, but for some reason Chrtistina played very little. Reynolds exposed a major weakness that McDowell has. Somebody for McDowell needs to step up and play inside. We are too soft...but once again congrats to the Lady Rockets, hopefully payback will come in Marion next month.

Thanks for posting these stats. By the way, I would like to know the rebounding numbers as I think that was the difference in the game. The threes were deadly of course, but rebounding was the key.

I also believe Worley made a huge difference. I haven't seen her play that well before. I believe the key to beating Reynolds is to stop either Alexander, Thompson, or Rybacki. You can't stop all 3, so concentrate on all 3 and hope to lock one down, then you can get a victory.

McDowell needs to adjust that 1-3-1 press to a 1-2-2 or 2-2-1 or 1-2-1-1. That 1-3-1 allows to many open shots. It is weird though that Freedom couldn't do anything with the press and Reynolds had no trouble at all.

Congrats on a fine game by the Lady Rockets and they better keep that young coach. He certainly has a bright future and present for that matter. Let's hope that final game in Marion is for the outright championship!

worley has had several good games lately... double figures 3 or 4 times...

the press is less effective for a couple of reasons...

    1. reynolds always presses everybody... so, i would think they practice it all the time, and have to beat it in practice all the time...

    2. every girl on reynolds team can lead the break... a few of their deep subs are less effective handling the ball, but of their top 5 or 6, they all can go... alexander was a point guard in middle school... so, she spent most of her life handling the ball... the rest of the main players are comfortable as well...

    3. so, having 5 girls on the court that can handle the ball, vs. 3 for Freedom, makes a huge difference... traps are a little less effective because you take a way the point guard, and the center will start the offense...
