Thanks Fish, I really like reading your posts as well.

As for your question, I would probably be hesitant to throw the drop ball in that situation. Depending on the profeciency of the picther of course. But I see your point, I'd probably go with the rise over the drop at that point.

Hope you and your family had a merry Christmas!

Every situation is different but if I have confidence in my pitcher and her ability to throw either pitch, I still would throw to the batters weakness no matter what the situation is. If the coach is not sure what her weakness is , ( scouting report , previous at bat ,etc) then coach X may not have done his job.No excuse for not being prepared. Runner on 3rd .less than 2 outs. Can she bunt? squeeze ? what pitch then? Maybe rise, could pop up. However, she may can score from a medium depth sac fly! Who knows. I would call for a 30 second timeout and go to commercial!!!! (whups, wrong sport .LOL)

    rise ball

Rise is the hardest pitch to learn how to throw it right period. IMO it is the best weapon a pitcher can have. If you throw down most of the time the hitters are just going to sit and wait on the low pitch. As Marlin said a pitcher that can change speeds with every pitch they have will dominate most hitters. How to change speeds, well thats secret right now. LOL

    I know

Might ask Morgan Childers for her secrets, she is the best I have seen with changing speeds and hitting her spots. Meredith O'Connor was pretty darn good as well, especially the low rise!
