Robbie Thorburn Ties State Record

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Today was a bittersweet ending to "the streak"...

Robbie Thorburn ( Jr. Cardinal Gibbons, Raleigh ) led off today and and did something he hadn't done in his last 14 at bats...he didn't get a hit.

He meekly grounded out to 1st to end his hitting streak, and we have been told that at 14 he has tied the NC State High School record.

I had the opportunity to see them all first hand, and let me assure you...of his 14 hits, 13 were pea's ( there was one blooper that "had eyes" ).

When you think of all the great ballplayers that have preceded Robbie in NC, to be able to share this State Record is truly an incredible accomplishment, and we are all very proud of him.

What did he do the rest of the game? After getting hbp, in his next official at bat he hit a 2 run bomb...

Congrats kid.
