Did anybody have the luck/good fortune to be able to actually see the Rockies game last night? HOLY COW.....I didn't see it, but it sounded like one of the best games in the history of baseball!!!!

Can somebody who actually saw the game give some comments? Was it as good as it sounded? Sure would have been nice if ESPN would've pre-empted the Bengals/Patriots massacre so that we could've seen a true diamond classic!

And.....can anybody post an argument for why Matt Holliday wouldn't be National League MVP???? Talk about coming up big.....WOW!!!! I thought the game was over when the Pads went up 8-6 in the 13th. That young man really came through for his team....imagine what his dad must've been thinking about when he came up to bat in the 13th! Simply amazing....

    Any comments?

    Playoff thrills

I do not like staying up late during the week but every year I manage to do it for the playoffs and world series and last night was a special treat as the game was awesome. When you get to a one game playoff the excitement is the best and to see the back and forth big lead changes was terrific. When Holliday misplayed that routine fly ball in the 8th I felt awful for him because the game would have been over in 9 innings and instead I could see his tremendous year be lost by that one play. Talk about pressure to not be the goat in this type of game. WOW. To see him go from goat to MVP was a perfect ending to a long night. I really wish our kids could get to see all the playoff games as they would be able to learn so much about the great game of baseball when the games mean the most. Having been to every stadium in the major leagues at least once I can also tell you that Coors field is by far one of the best.

It's tough to get anybody out with an 88mph FB that you aren't locating. In the 13th Hoffman hit 4 bats in a row. Double off the wall in RCF. Double to LCF. Triple off the top of the wall in RF (oppo) and a nice little SAC9 to end it. Congrats to the Rockies.

The American League are the playoffs to watch. The 4 teams there are arguably better than any of the NL teams.

I agree, but momentum can be a beautiful thing. The Phillies are dangerous

first off ill just start by saying im a padres fan all the way... not trying to be too bias or make excuses in any way... im just wondering did he not miss the plate at the end... catcher had him blocked perfectly and they went over it a couple of times and grant it i wouldnt even be able to try to make that call in the bottom of the 13th in fast motion only getting one shot. But from what it looked like the catcher missed the ball but blocked the plate... holliday got roughed up pretty bad but the umpire didnt make an immediate call.... then the catcher scrambled for the ball and holliday for a split second started to move like he was gonna scramble to the plate... then the umpire finally waved it safe and the announcers talked about it as they didnt see him touch the plate... like i said no use in crying over spilt milk but what do you guys think on it?

Rockies stayed hot winning 14 of the last 15

Being an umpire myself I know that it is way too close to call as to IF he did or did not touch the edge of the plate especially like you said "in real fast time" and with a head first slide. The real reason for the final safe call was based mostly on the umpire seeing the catcher drop the ball which made it easier to make the safe call. Either way it was a heck of a slide by an MVP.

    IF

If he touched the plate it was with his fingernail. Why didn't the umpire give an "emphatic" safe sign? His delay and then nonchalant safe call made the whole play seem wierd.

    Oh well.

    Don't even suggest instant replay or I swear I'll, I'll, I'll.................SCREAM!
