ROCKY MOUNT EASTER TOURNAMENT

    This looks like a good place to see some good baseball in the eastern part of NC. This tournament has been run for many years in Rocky Mount, heck I remember playing in it as a high school player myself back in the days of the old facility at Gryphon Stadium. Back then we did not stay in a hotel but stayed with host families... Ah the good ole days.

    Teams in the 2006 Tournament include:

    Rocky Mount
    Southern Nash
    Northern Nash
    South Granville
    Person
    Clayton
    Roanoke Rapids
    Wilson Hunt

    I have attached tournament brackets for you to peruse. Hopefully SouthernNo1 and Coach 27 can help keep the results up to date. BTW... I look forward to seeing southern in RM!!

    Whoever faces this pitcher at the RM tournament; please post comments. He's signed w/ the Miami Hurricanes & attracting numerous pro scouts at the Clayton games.

    RM tourney

    It should be a great tourney. The first game should be a great game. Roxboro vs Rocky Mount. Then Southern Nash takes on Roanoke Rapids. South Granville will then face Wilson Hunt and at 8:00 pm Clayton takes on Northern Nash. It should be very interesting and alot of fun. RM does a great job running the tourney and the field is always in outstanding condition. There are some outstanding players in this tournement. It should be alot of fun. I am planning on staying over and watching the Northern Nash Clayton game since we play the winner (if) we win. I look forward to seeing alot of baseball friends in the RM area.

    field at RM

    When RM Coach Pat Smith was the coach at South Johnston, he always maintained the field in A1 condition.

    I look forward to seeing all of you. You're right EofR, Coach Smith does as good a job as anyone I've seen maintaining a field. It takes lots of hours.

    Rocky Mount-7
    Person County-5

    WP-Leggett
    LP-Tolley

    Neither team had their best game today, IMO. Good luck to Person County in the rest of this tournament and year. These boys can hit the ball!!

    Leggett did not have his best stuff but he had enough to get the win. Rocky Mount was forced to play without 2 starters due to disciplinary reasons.
    Person County swung the bats well but defense let them fown at crucial times. Robbie Byrd is the complete package.

    Game Two

    Roanoke Rapids 8
    Southern Nash 4

    This was indeed a sloppy game with errors and baserunning micues galore.

    RM Easter Tourney

    I just got home and like always can never go to bed as soon as I get home after watching baseball. I just got through watching two teams play for over three hours in a 17-12 marathon like Southern1 stated earlier.

    Monday in the winners bracket Rocky Mount will face Roanoke Rapids and then at 8pm South Granville will face Clayton with the winners playing for the championship Tuesday night at 8pm.

    In the other bracket Southern Nash will face Roxboro Person and Wilson Hunt will face Northern Nash.
