From what I was told, he didn't.. I suppose they are saving him for what they think will be th echampionship game, but they better not look past South Granville. They can play.

In the second game of the day....

    Northern Nash-10
    Hunt-1
    8 innings

    WP-Brandon Shannonhouse
    LP-Justin Nygard

-Tied 1-1 going into the top of the 8th, until NN erupted for 9 runs. Hunt then failed to score in the bottom half of the inning.

The final 2 games of the day were rained out. Rocky Mount and Roanoke Rapids will start at 10 tommorow morning, and South Granville-Clayton will follow. The 7th place game has ben cancelled between Hunt and Southern Nash. There will be 5 games tommorow, with the championship set to start at 9:00 PM I believe. Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, South Granville, and Clayton will all play 2 games tommorow.

    RM Easter Tourney

South Granville faced Clayton and Chris Archer pitched for Clayton. Mike Robbins for the Vikings. Archer was terrific for Clayton. He gave up one hit on the night. He pitched in the 89-91 range with his fb but his best pitch was a nasty tight slider with great downward sink with velocity. His cb was nasty as well. He pitched the meat of the order very tough with sliders behind fb's and started out the 4-5 hitters most of the time with a cb for a strike. He lost his controll in the 7th with SG loading the bases down 6-1. Clayton worked out of it and got the win. Archer is very good. We had some guys have good ab's and put it in play but Clayton made the plays when they had to. Robbins was very good as well for SG. A throwing error and a misplayed pop up to right field hurt us for 3 unearned runs early. The bottom line is when this guy is on the hill for the Comets they are going to be tough to beat.

In the third place game SG beat Roanoke Rapids 5-2. Josh Darroach went 6 innings giving up 2 runs. Dixon went the distance for Roanoke Rapids. May hit a bases loaded double off the left center field wall that cleared the bases in the 5th to give SG a 5-1 lead. Maynard had two hits on the night a dbl and single for SG. Luck came in to close it out for SG in the 7th inning.

SG went 2-1 in the tourney and finished in 3rd place. As Southern1 stated earlier they win the tourney for the second year in a row. I got to see their game with Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount is a very well coached team with some outstanding players. They have some outstanding young pitching and some very good athletic players. Congrats to RM!

All tournement team players for SG Chris Luck Jr Pratt Maynard So Jeff May So. We look forward to coming back next year. Rocky Mount puts on a great tournement.

Great Tournament in Rocky Mount. Though we went 1-2, the tournament was well planned and executed.

We played sloppy against 2 good teams in Rocky Mount and Northern Nash. PAt Smith (RM) and Al Carter (NN) are classy guys who run excellent programs. I saw great players for Rocky Mount, Northern Nash, Clayton and South Granville. I also saw classy fans who applauded good efforts. OUr team made errors and I am disappointed in that, but these young men never quit fighting, not bad for a team with only 3 seniors.

Robbie Byrd made the All-Tournament Team for the Rockets.

Hunter Wrenn JR/LHP (7IP relief in the tournament) pitched well for the Rockets. I was told his velocity was 84-85. I can personally attest to the fact that he had great movement, as I had a hard time catching him as he warmed up between innings.

Jerrod Moore was phenominal in his effort against Southern Nash as stated earlier.

Wrenn did pitch well. Not only was he throwing 84-85, but with that 6'5-6'6 frame, it looks like to me that with some work, he could throw much harder. Just think how tough he would be to hit with an 87-88 mph fastball going downhill like that.

    Hunter Wrenn

Wrenn was outstanding. He has gotten better and better everytime out for Roxboro. He struggled a little when we first came in but once he got loose he was lights out. This kid has loads of upside thats for sure. Coach Evans Rockets did not play very good defense. But they never quit. They battled till the last out of the game. And as always they showed great class on and off the field.
