Just got back in from Rose Providence game at USA baseball complex in Cary. Great game! Rose was down 3-0 in 6th and scored 4 in the bottom of 6th. Paul McIntosh pitched a great game for Rose and ECU commit Tanner Merritt got the save in the 7th. Providence was very loud and cocky the whole game. Rose and Providence are very good teams.

Great game tonight between the two teams. The winning run was scored by a questionable balk call. Both starting pitchers threw great. Both teams had nine hits although I feel Providence swung considerably better, I don't think rose had an extra base hit and needed an awful hop on a ground ball to score a run. But all in all it was a great game and both teams played extremely well. Congrats to Rose but Providence looked more impressive. Should be a great season

I know this battle could be discussed forever, but Rose owns Charlotte HS baseball. I always hear people say "we should have beaten them....." when in reality Rose ALWAYS finds a way to win.

The difference is Charlotte teams think they are going to beat Rose, Rose KNOWS it's going to beat any team. They always find a way to win year after year after year after year.

Winners find ways to win...and Rose goes back home.....winners again.

For those that watched this game and did not feel like it was a playoff game...missed it! It was intense on the first pitch and it was intense on the last one....what a great HS game to watch.

By the way, Richie Shaffer hit an absolute bomb into a stiff wind. It was finally caught at the centerfield fence right below the 400' marker. That was impressive!

Funny how some kids names are mentioned on this site just for getting out. How high did that ball go?

    Other reflections of the game:

    - Jordan Fuller really caught my attention as the Providence starter. I was not aware of Jordan before today, but he really showed composure and mixed his pitches well.

    - To me, Tyler Zupcic is the most exciting player to watch in HS. If baseball was a chessmatch...Tyler is two steps ahead of everyone else. His baseball IQ is through the roof.

    - Richie Shaffer is a legit pro prospect. The strongest, quickest wrists in the state---with all due respect to Will Myers. An outstanding team leader as well.

    - Paul McIntosh "The Magic Man". It was not his best performance today, but he showed why he pitches like few others. When he pitched a ball, rarely did it see anything around the plate but black. And he is such a smart pitcher that he is able to sneak his fastball (fastball may not be the right term) past the watching batters. The kid is like a magician with a baseball---he can make it do all kinds of tricks with the accuracy of an assassin.

    - Chase Macdonald Good Gawd!!!! HS baseballers are not supposed to be that big. Providence pitched him very carefully today and the one of the few times they did challenge him, he got a big base hit that ignited the Rose offense.

There were many more players that displayed a lot of heart on both teams...but I'm tired and I'm going to bed.

Stick to the Hopewell stories and stop taking shots at others....your jealousy will not stand out so much...geesh

...and this is my last warning to you. If you want to post on this board, support your own team and not take shots at other teams or members.

You know what...forget it. Your posts aren't needed or wanted on this site. If you are a parent (and I believe you are), you should be ashamed of yourself.

Bye and have fun with your own website so you can continue to take potshots at HS kids and their teams.

    Braves......

.....it is just kids growing up in a strong baseball oriented community and wanting nothing else than to wear the green jersey with Rose across the chest. That is just one of those intangibles that sounds hokey but it has an impact. Last night imho Providence looked the more talented team. Our starting pitcher was not sharp (his first words after the game was "my breaking ball sucked tonight"), our baserunning was awful, our most talented player had to leave the game after fouling a ball off his foot, we couldn't buy a clutch hit in the early going (three times had two on with no outs and did not score in those innings) yet our players refused to lose. Believe it or not I don't care, tradition can make a difference, especially in a tough game against an extremely talented team like Providence.
