Optimist Field conditions

I totally agree with the poor and dangerous conditions at Optimst Park. It is too bad that Sanderson and the City of Raleigh can not work together and get this chronic problem of poor lighting fixed. It may be helpful and I thank you in advance, if the fine folks from JHR would contact the Raleigh City Manager Russell Allen and expressed your concerns as you have done on TBR. We had a problem a few weeks ago and Mr. Allen made sure it was taken care after we had tried to get the Parks and Rec to respond.

I have been associated with Sanderson baseball for three years ( a players parent) and I can tell you we have done much as a baseball booster club to improve the playing conditons and the envirnoment. Basically Sanderson is not allowed to alter the field and we must go throught the City Parks and Recreation dept to have any work done. That ain't easy.

On the game I was very much impressed with JHR. The ball was hit in places where they were hits and your defense was solid. Your pitcher Wilder was smoking. I am sure the Spartans will take the postives from this game and make the necessary adjustments for game 2 and bring the third game back to Raleigh -- hopefully a day game!

Looking forward to seeing AK now... having heard so much about South Caldwell, Providence and North Davidson... and AK not getting much glory...

 

Diesel, was that the lefty, "Ditter", or the righty, "Ditter" that started?

 

Merritt started. First time he has pitched since early April. Lefty Ditter picked up the win.

The programing in the box score has a glitch in where it list the pitchers by innings pitched and not by appearance.

 

Tanner threw three innings, 34 pitches. Good, quick outing for him. I think everyone was happy to see what they saw. With the 6 run lead, no reason to keep him out there. he's more important next weekend. Then rolled out Ted "Lefty" Deters (as I guess he would be the number 4 guy, with Merrit, Wilder and McIntosh). Gave up a long solo shot, but settled down and got his work in. Did what he needed to do.

Ya'll played like I thought you would -- solid in all phases. I believe our program is headed in the right direction in the years to come. With six starters returning next year we hope to make another deep run into the playoffs. I hope to see your team claim the state 4A championship next week for all of us in the eastern part of the state. Best of luck.
