Round 1 - Cherryville vs Pineville

I did get off the couch and go last night. I live in Union County not Cherryville, so I couldn't make it that far tonight. As far as believing what I heard on the "homer radio", did they or did they not throw stuff out onto the field? In regards to the call at homeplate last night, let's go back and call the Cherryville runner out, final score 5-3 instead of 6-3.

 

Sooooo.... what the hell happened over there tonight that the game is being called a forfeit?

 

And let me say it was not just the runner last night was out at homeplate. There was anther very bad call by the ump when there was a Pineville throwing error the runner made it safe into first base .The umpire called a timeout which means a runner can not advance. However, the runner was allowed to advance 3rd base. When he should have only be allowed to make it to 2nd base and not into 3rd base. anther bad call that went cherryville way there was runner at 3rd base with 2 out One of the Cherryville batter I forgot the number of the player. Hit a fly ball. To the LF, the Pineville player caught the ball and yet the umpire said he drops the ball when in fact he did not drop the ball. Last night it was not just calling that cherryville got, but it was close to five calls that went cherryville way. Furthermore, can anyone explain to me. When you play cherryville why does all three umps . Have to be cherryville. I'm sure that they are umps who are not from cherryville which could have work this series.

You maybe, he was stating the facts. Umpires were horrible. sad but all facts....

 

I'm going to try to find out why the Pineville coaches and players were ejected.As soon I find out i will post it in here

 

And let me say this before game 2 started yesterday.I had a chances to ask the Cherryville radio broadcaster about Adam Benefield who had 11 strikeout for Cherryville in game 1.I asked them if Adam Benefield is very good or what.They told me that in game 1 that Umpires had a very bad strikeout and that the Pineville players and coaches were pretty upset at the home plate umpire

I don't get it. I can understand frustration and perhaps despair from inept umpiring, but from what I read in the article, did Pineville just quit? Did it happen right after the HR dispute? I'm sure there were many things involved, but please someone enlighten me; did Pineville just quit and walk off the field? or did the umpire call the game a forfeit...and they ended the game?

For the record, Cherryville took a 6-5 victory to complete a 3-0 first-round sweep of the N.C. Area IV playoff series.
But fans left Fraley Park in Cherryville talking about the bizarre ending in which Pineville left the field and decided to forfeit the contest.
Post 337 coaches and players left after they protested in vain a foul ball call on what would’ve been a two-run homer by Colin Keefer that would’ve put Pineville ahead 7-6 with two outs in the top of the eighth inning.
The result means Cherryville (18-4) advances in its first playoff round for a team-record seventh straight season. Post 100 will play the winner of the Alexander County-Union County series in a best-of-five series tentatively slated to start Monday night at 7 p.m. at Fraley Field.
